Congrats. It took me only a few days after starting trading that counter trend trading is for people who have a huge Bankroll or do not give a fuck at all. Or both.

Quite simple really...

G/U Bullish:
European economies are showing promise,
The BOJ is buying foreign assets instead of JGBs as part of its QE program and this puts European assets at the top of the list due to the most earnings potential (Higher Sovereign yields and probably sooner rate hikes than the US)
Carney, although publicly trying to appear dovish, is still portraying the BOE as much more hawkish than it's been since 2008

A/U Bearish:
Australia is a mining economy (Hard Commodities) and there are many factors affecting their currency. First of all, the commodities market demand is still very low. On top of that, the price of gold has plummeted because it was bought up on fear and speculation of severe inflation in the US... and now that the price is much lower and closer to actual production costs, the prospects of record profits from the mining sector are severely diminished.

Of course beyond what is mentioned above, from a technical perspective, you have to consider the prevailing cycles. Although the cycles on a higher degree are still pretty much aligned, the Aussie cycle is currently lagging the European cycle by about a year. This lag could narrow or widen over time, but in the grander scheme, they are not exactly opposite. They only appear to be.

To me more buyers will be lining up around the 650 area to enter longs. Looks like some profit taking is starting to come in and a battle for 660 area.
