its all depending on if that was support or not. if it was definition wise, we missed a hammer on the month usdx.. the upper shadow shoild 10% or less. this one is about 15%.. i still wouldn't trade a holding position against it. usd

A flurry of sell side research on ECB coming through now

EURUSD will likely trade heavily as long as ECB easing is a concern, with the AQR offering support if these concerns fade - Morgan Stanley
The initial impact of any rate cut is likely to be EUR negative in our view, particularly bearish in the short term - Morgan Stanley
We believe a refi rate cut on its own would have limited impact, given that Eonia already trades closer to the deposit rate - Morgan Stanley
An LTRO too would have limited impact as banks prepare for the AQR and do not wish to expand their balance sheets - Morgan Stanley
The largest impact on EUR would likely be a refi and deposit rate cut together - Morgan Stanley

The euro is overvalued by about 14% against the dollar and by about 5% on a trade-weighted basis - Goldman
A 25bp rate cut from the ECB could move EUR/USD down by about 5 big figures, but $1.33 would be a buying opportunity - Goldman

The ECB will cut the refi rate by 25bp at next week’s meeting, not so much because of concerns over falling inflation – which will likely stabilize in the course of 2014 - BofA

Indeed, the ECB has been reluctant to address the deteriorating inflation outlook for a while, and the EONIA curve has steepened on the back of ECB’s forward guidance discussion, suggesting the efficacy of forward guidance is limited. By cutting the refi, the ECB will underline that it is vigilant - BofA

- UBS: Now expect 25bp refi rate cut and a 50bp marginal lending rate cut at Nov meeting.
- BAML: Believe ECB will cut refi rate by 25bp next week, but will refrain from cutting the deposit rate. Inflation likely to remain at low levels, therefore no need for ECB to move after next week's cut.
- BNP: Now expect a refi rate cut of 25bp before year-end.
- JPM: Now expect 25bp refi rate cut in December. - RBC: Do not look for ECB to lower rates in the near term.
- Barclays: ECB to remain on hold. Wait for inflation forecasts at Dec meeting.
- CS: Should leave door open for possible rate cut in Dec when 2014/15 inflation forecasts are announced.
- RBS: Now expect 25bp refi rate cut in November, with a 50bp cut in marginal lending rate, while deposit rate remains unchanged.
