dow jones dollar. it got back above resistance, so expect a little more bounce from the dollar, maybe to 10480. After that it may still drop to 10320 to touch the yellow weekly TL.

dow jones dollar has 25% contribution from aussie, so it is a good guide for aussie trades. DXY has no aussie component, thus is less valuable for planning aussie trades.

For euro trades, look at DXY. For aussie trades, look at Dow Jones Dollar.

How do you view tick charts with only fluctioation in pips and not in pipettes?Is it possible?

MT4 can view other chart types [range, kagi, renko, ticks] only in offline mode..

as snippets.. but still accurate.

Citi FX daily wrap-up

A major Atlantic storm crippling the mobility of traders in London, along with broader hesitation ahead of the Fed decision this Wednesday, led to a less active session Monday.

· USD performance was slightly positive to neutral across the G10 and moreso mixed against EM. There seemed to be no fundamental driver of this bias. US data was largely neutral to negative.

· September industrial production unexpectedly edged up from 0.4%MoM to 0.6% on the back of weather effects, while, pending home sales tanked from -1.6% to 5.6% versus 0.0% expected. The Dallas Fed manufacturing index was also weak, coming in at 3.6 versus 10.0 consensus.

· USDJPY opened firm around 97.50/60 in early Europe on the back of reports of asset reallocation from funds into equities at the expense of JGBs.

· Later headlines, having less impact, added that the public fund for Japan's civil servants is likely to put more of its USD80bn assets into domestic stocks as soon as November.

· We saw little evidence of any rush to buy USDJPY on the news. In fact, our flows were skewed in decent selling in USDJPY from across most of our client segments.

· Perhaps the market, like our NY JPY trader, believes the pair stuck in a range now on the 97.00 handle. Our trader prefers to stay long within it.

· EURUSD consolidated in a very tight range of 1.3780/1.3820, seeing the lows of its days in NY. It was quite active in late NY, jumping 30pips towards 1.3810 only to crash back down again.

· Most likely, poor liquidity was to blame. However, it is worth noting that during the uptick, some investors pointed to a fresh report from Spiegel.

· This suggested Germany’s center-left Social Democrat Party (SDP) may drop its demand for the finance minister position in coalition talks with Merkel. Why? Qualified candidates in the SDP don’t want it, turning the party’s focus to other top, government positions. Click here for more.

· Cable traded well until USD strength emerged during the New York session. However, it was EURGBP’s rally back up to the 200d MA around 0.8535 that most traders paid attention to.

· Street talk suggested hedge-fund interest behind the move, while we saw net selling of GBP in both the cross (light volume) and cable (more impressive).

· Despite an overall optimistic delivery from two BoE members, some also noted a few dovish comments. BoE member Miles said that it would be “pretty catastrophic” to raise rates before seeing meaningful employment growth, while earlier, Dale said that QE is still on the table.

· Still, CitiFX G10 Strategist Valentin Marinov believes that may see move towards this year’s high of 1.6381 in GBPUSD going into the Fed meeting and the data releases out of the US (industrial production, CPI, retail sales and ISM manufacturing) and the UK (manufacturing PMI, mortgage and housing data) this week.

· Long cable may also be an attractive trade to express a bearish USD-view in view of FX market positioning at present. Click here to read the full report

· Turnover in AUDUSD was reasonable, with flows biased towards selling.

· The bulk of the supply came from corporate names, with leveraged joining in the fun. Opening in Asia Tuesday, the pair tests the 0.9575 area, which is coincidentally the 38.2% retracement of the recent rally from 0.9281 to 0.9750.

· Swedish September retail sales came in at+0.2%, which was worse than the consensus +0.5% but in line with Citi’s forecast. EURSEK moved higher on the back of the numbers, starting from 8.72 towards 8.73. However, follow-through wasn’t seen until the NY session, with the cross peaking around 8.7560. It now tests 8.75.

· There’s not really anything to say about CAD on Monday but CitiFX Strategist Josh O’Byrne brought back some interesting ideas from the Bank of Canada’s semi-annual London presentation of the Monetary Policy Report with Deputy Governor Lawrence Schembri.
· “I came away with the impression that the Bank had not significantly changed their view, but rather has moderated its expectation of the pace of recovery. This contrasts somewhat with the removal of the tightening bias, which Citi economists saw as too pessimistic.” Click here for more.


EM in Focus

· Last week, CitiFX Strategist Richard Cochinos also met with 25 different accounts covering the Banks and Pension funds in Santiago and Bogota. Broadly, Pension funds tended to be more optimistic towards risk and FX investments into year-end, while local banks were more conservative - having seen their trading volumes drop over the past few months.

· Our CitiFX Positioning Indicator showed that active currency traders sold commodity currencies last week, but added to their long EM FX positions.

· The commodity currency indicator dropped 2 points to +0.5, one of the sharpest weekly declines on record. The move was driven by net selling of NZD, CAD and AUD, with positions in the latter two dropping from net long to short. NOK was an exception to the general trend.

· Our quantitative analysts note that since August 2011, we have only seen three weeks with moves of similar or greater magnitude in the commodity currency indicator. In all three cases the EM FX positioning index moved in the same direction.

· It is therefore interesting that the deterioration in commodity currency sentiment did not deter active traders from adding to their long EM positions last week. Asia, where the Positioning Indicator increased to a new record, and CEEMEA saw most of inflows. Positions in LatAm FX were dampened by CLP selling. Click here for the full report.

· The RBI policy meeting will be closely watched on Tuesday with consensus view of 25bps policy rate hike in policy corridor. Additionally, it needs to be seen if we see any change to MSF after an intra-meeting cut of 75bps and relaxation in LAF borrowing (currently at 0.5% of NDTL).

· Our trading team believes that positioning in USDINR and OIS is light. Our short USDINR bias stays in short term given the carry and expectation that RBI will cap the top side (should we see a grind lower). A 25bps hike in repo with a possible 25bps cut in MSF should be neutral for currency. No hike on the other hand should push equities higher and hence USDINR lower.

· The Bank of Israel held rates at 1.0% as expected but after reading the statement, our ILS trader believes that it was a close decision. It mentioned that inflation is below the midpoint of the target range, exports have declined in Q3, and IMF growth projections are lower. On the other hand, it said that ILS weakened a touch, while house prices continued to rise. It also highlighted its three rate cuts since May.

· Bloomberg, citing anonymous government officials, reported that Brazil President Rousseff will oppose efforts by Senate chief Renan Calheiros to grant its CB independence. Rousseff’s office has refused comment.

· The debate centers on current policy, where officials outside of the central bank can make public statements regarding interest rates. Calheiros’s position is backed by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), which said in its mid-October economic survey that communication regarding interest rates should be limited to the CB to limit market confusion and retain policymakers’ independence.

be careful.. the load box is 63$ wide. the tp 1150 or more. after that a long wait. probably back to 1306, then the temperature has to be checked.
