Hey guys, seeking your opinion. A couple of days back, when the german data was released, the EURUSD shot up and my SL got triggered but there was a slippage of 20 pips. The broker feedback that as they were not market makers nor dealing desks, the prices might slip if the market moved too fast during a news release. So what's your take? Would you still prefer ECN/STP or would it be MM/DD?

you should not tolerate a 25% drawdown. you would need a 33% gain to make even after a 25% loss. that is a diffrence of 8%. it is difficult even to make 8% in one trade. if you have two 25% loss in a row, you have only 56% left in your account. you would need two 33% gain to make it back.

What I don't understand is..the monthly chart you posted 'should' trump any hr/4hr charts. Not within a day necessarily but within a week or so.

So do you use the 4HR and less charts for ST trades and not worry about the confluence on the longer TF stuff?

Then use the longer TF charts to enter trades you're going to let ride and try to enter on a short term TF bounce?

20 pips slippage with EUR/USD is pure bullshit when you have set an SL... German data caused a spike yes but it is an ordinary one, the usual brutal spikes happen during NFP release. I suggest you change your broker...

it is a common pratce that some brokers widen spreads during major data and news release. they make money from spreads. but you cannot sue them because they do not have to put their own offers and bids there, just let retail traders trade against each other.

yup those bastards do not want to lose money. they may lose money with tight spreads during major data and news release. that is why most of them widen spreads in these events.

i was just pointing out shit happens in this area over the years. . a few hundred pip drop is nothing here. the mid to 3739 is 3242 ish... so if 3164 is lost.. then 3074 is easily welcomed in pa no matter if its bullish or bearish in trend.. norm would go to 3085/97 before the smaller 3362/3418 target formation. and even if we do get below 3164... a trip back to 3214 is just normal before 3074...

So you are bearish atm - or atleast looking for bear setups ? 3242 is a bit rr though
