IMHO this daily chart on GBNZ shows the move has gone parabolic, and whilst the recent consolidation could be a breathing space before going lower - the fact that it has broken recent lows gives added weight - ONLY that - to the likelihood that a correction/trend reversal is imminent. A break above/ close and re-test of the marked lines would add to that possibility and gives opportunities for entry/stacking. Chart 2 adds in major support/resistance lines where further stacking can be considered!

I'll try to do it for you:
Build a pyramid of small positions following the market direction by doing low-risk entries and letting the market decide if they survive or not.

Unfortunately, my stacking is purely discretionary in nature as I don't believe in following rule-based entries (for now). My main focus is around important price levels. Here's another example from my 'stacking-only' live account. Price bounced off 1.0 parity on USDCAD and then just following the price. Getting ready for stack#3 soon. Keeping it simple.

Kudos for drawing trendlines (or trendfans) the most accurate way. Common sense would suggest that a trend line cannot be a trend line if it is broken! I see so many charts on FF with all sorts of zigzag lines in all directions.

Personally, I find MN and WK timeframes to be respected more often so here's what I do to help with my focal interpretation in drawing a frame of reference...

I draw/redraw TLs on my charts only on weekends and month ends. Any TL broken during the week/month becomes dotted line and removed after the end of next week/month.

Thanks guys for the charts and illustrations.

I am not that sensible to really understand the secrets behind the candles (at least for the moment), thus I am trying rule based stacking method similar to the Flying Buddha stacking method on 4H chart (NY close). I will try to move my position to BE before stacking in the next 4H candle. As I started trading with PASR, some important SR levels are referenced as well in decision making.

I might not target several thousands of pips in a few months like what G and you guys doing, because of my personality maybe. a few hundreds pips in a swing would be good for me in a few days.

some questions:
I am still not so good at drawing trend lines (should it touch high/low or open/close?)

Isn't it simple to mechanically stack while keep open positions risk free?

hope to learn more from you guys.

Yes. And no. The mechanical stacking itself is simple, yes. The hard part is keeping the running costs as low as possible. Take "00 entry" that Graeme proposed for example. It is the simplest mechanical stacking you can think of - coming from one 00 level to another, you simply enter buy or sell. However, if you do it all mechanical, you're going to have a lot of losses. Still, you'd get some positions building and floating profits in excess of the realized losses. But then the price reverses and wipes away the floating profits you paid for. With some careful management, it is possible, although it would be much cheaper (and easier) if you have a more refined way of stacking your positions.

Cannot disagree with what you say Vee - I was only looking at GBNZ as it was in topic - and you might recall that I only really look at ranges for trading - however our comments illustrate that there are many ways to interpret what is happening, and relies not just on what you see, but what you rely on in terms of technicals versus fundamentals - we can all be wrong and all be right, but even if right can still lose. Yesterday I posted a comment concerning EURGBP and said perhaps it was 'a tad early'. This was because of the up-coming news on 'Claimant Count' from UK, and was relevant as it skittled the pair, despite the relatively modest difference in figures. As it happens the move gave rise to an FB on the pair.
Despite the news the following illustrates varied views of the same events:

Perhaps proving my point - I went short below 0.8700 prior to the news which I dumped when it went over 0.8700 and then ignored it for the rest of the day.

These are the times when all lights are green for those trying to stack. Fantastic moves across the board from Asian to London and into US sessions. Closed 14 positions for profit, added more stacks to a total of 26 positions across 6 pairs with floating net profits @ 16+% and about 5% in realized. I might close them all (as average price is under 100 pips away from current price) to use these short term profits and invest in building long term position building.

Be ahead in the game instead of worrying about realized SLs/drawdowns etc !!! This is my definition of 'cash flow' to prevent ending up in a mental institution by focussing on drawdowns in account balance.

Note: For those in the USA, this is a FIFO enabled account so I can only trade/stack with average price with Net SL/TP. first screenshot shows net pips per pair and second screenshot shows individual positions... just in case if you care to dissect how I stack aggressively running at 2017 pips in less than 24 hours !

If you're drawing trendlines to show where price is at a potential trading edge then it doesn't really matter where they're drawn from, sometimes the low, sometimes the open/closes of candles, whatever makes them generally 'look' the best. Go look at how I drew them on some of my charts, see how I draw them to best fit.

Remember, you're not using them to put ON positions, ie at the touch of the line, just for showing areas that are potentially good for trades.

Thank you Calculus,

It's clearer for me now.

Any comments on the GBP/USD? the daily pin bar formed at a strong level. or generally it's not a good pair to trade? I found this pair is not as liquid as EUR/GBP which I am short at the moment.

Personally, I closed a few shorts on the G/U, since the price is about the lower boundary of the weekly range that pair has been stuck into for the recent past. Still keeping my two topmost shorts though, just in case there's no resistance left there. A long probe based on the daily pin seems reasonable to me.

I am still in (one long and couple of shorts in loss at the moment) but got sick of zigzag PA movement. Currently focussed on many pairs that are moving this week like crazy. I am already in my 3rd round of 1000+pip stacking episode since Sunday night with 29 position across 10+ pairs ! I will post some screenshots of my positions in a bit.

Hey Vee, I am also holding some E/J shorts from 125.39 area. My problem is not necessarily initial entry, but stacking. Like yesterday for example. I watched price continue lower and lower for 500 pips and couldn't get myself to enter a single position. I would have liked to increase my position from 5 lots to at least 15-20 lots during that time, but I couldn't pull the trigger. Have you ever suffered from this problem? If so, can you offer any advice? Thanks!

I am unable to upload any attachments... not sure if it's my browser or FF. I had a bit of struggle too scottymoll. The way I tackle this is to spread my risk across 4-5 JPY pairs and then stack heavily on the ones which try to 'befriend' me (for the time being). I had some fantastic runs on chf+cad+aud+nzd/jpy pairs and finally I caught the move today on eur+usd/jpy. For some reason, I cannot tame guppy but getting there soon after watching it's behavior more closely. I fail to understand why guppy did NOT drop like most of the GBP pairs after the moody's downgrade
