Banks may shrink for good as layoffs near 160,000

(Reuters) - Major banks have announced some 160,000 job cuts since early last year and with more layoffs to come as the industry restructures, many will leave the shrinking sector for good as redundancies outpace new hires by roughly two-to-one.
A Reuters analysis of job cuts announced by 29 major banks showed the layoffs were much bigger in Europe than in Asia or the United States.
That is a particular blow to Britain where the finance industry makes up roughly 10 percent of the economy.

And in Mays fall from 63 earlier this year.

i think the channel u have is possible but not pretty..look at the monthly and make a trendline..i like your first target but i think it only going to happen next week if 1.5830 holds
at best 1.59 end of week if it breaks..its very bullish but i doubt it
this is going to be all about the news if it good gbp probably bounce..if we see 1.5934 area and can stay there..i feel we going to reverse..and attack 1.6

weekly is not bearish..i promise infact with all my experience its practically certain next week is a bull week at least to 1.5935..
but the chart is not bearish longer term this is one thing i know
next u will experience hardly any dd south..it will just rise..u will see..just not sure abt 1.5935 area

retail sales was the main thing and look at the effect..nothing..usd now is in a place where job claims are increasing, election is over..this is one thing that stops me bearish on cable long term!!

Then when Fiscal cliff hits and US gets hit by budget requirements in 2013 and it is clear the economy is going to shrink fast due to required massive cuts etc and everyone as cleared their stock positions before the scheduled taxes increases in 2013 after Bush era cuts expire, then I will sell USD like their is no tomorrow.
I have noticed this year that when GBP comes out with positive news, it spikes up, then continues downtrend such as the pounds attempt at 62 in May when it started its decline from 63 earlier in the year.
Europe is still a big driver but I don't think attention will STRONGLY shift to USD until next year when it is clear to all in the world they are F*#ked.
