So... this is what I'm seeing for up side targets.

In the two images below, you will see fibs drawn on both of the recent upward swings.

The first swing was followed by a pull back to the 50% level which puts the extension @ the 161.8% level in the 1.3040/45 area.

The second swing was followed by a pull back to the 61.8% level which puts the extension @ the 161.8% level also in the 1.3040/45 area.

Looks like confluence to me...

yes sir if get stopped out at 3142 then surely short at 3085 3085 was my last number but prices fell from 3083 i had pending at 3085 but missed it with 2 pips,

i have just shorted cable at 6134 with TP 6010 min

I do not see why this pair should necessarily go higher....as it stands its gained
.31% ...that is within one standard deviation of returns.

If you are looking to take your profits for the day then this would be a safe area...84% of returns is encompassed at sigma one.

however if you are going to turn this into a swing trade...i suggest you adjust your position size now... it has potential to reach around 31 realistically by months end

Question for the more experienced traders..

If you are waiting for a confirmed close below or above a certain level, on which TF does it become reliable enough to be called a 'confirmed close'?
Obviously it can close on every TF from 1 min upwards, but I know this doesnt always mean much on the lower timeframes?? Is it a case of the higher the timeframe, the better the confirmation?

you still have NY session and the way the S&P futures are looking right now.. looks like equities will rise. It all depends on how the USD acts then but I wouldnt expect a dramatic break out to the upside

1.3040 or 1.3050 stands above sigma one...not unlikely either but you should stop and think if you want to hold that risk.

It depends... lol..

It depends what you're looking for. If you're looking for continuation, then higher TF, if you're looking for turns then lower TFs, and then watch what that does to the higher TFs..

It's not one thing of course. Momentum, how important the level is, what time of day it happens, news (these will give you the fakes most of the time) etc..

edit: you can also be in a chop (like this turns out to be) and then the closes don't mean much.

there are no time frames.....just price

Been burnt before with fakeouts, hence me trying to work on my knowledge of 'confirmed' breaks/closes.

after its retrace to about 1.3022 now we may have some new lows below 1.29200 and the target may be around 1.27999

TFs are important.. I actually don't use them, .. I have multiple settings tick charts..

Point is you have to be able to look inside (that's where it's curling), but in the end merge (roll) them all back up.
