Ive had the 2828 as HUGE support for a looong time PT

and the level below it we discussed on sunday( the 2750-2816) is still viable Daily demand although it has held the first test

That being said todays closes across the risk indices are looking particularily bearish.... ES futures under the 1436 opens up the 1396, USDx is up, VIX is pointing up/ Dow below 13500 etc...

NFPs this friday should be a doozy

will hold my short after equities close. someone jumped onto the afternoon (2 pm est) rally and is unloading. Maybe some rating change to come shortly?
but for now 200 sma hourly is holding as support 1.2912

I think the wash & rinse cycle is complete for now so anticipate 2900 to be breached during the Asian session...

ohenry, that would be nice. it is big support now so heavily defended it would seem. If it goes as you suggest then something else is cooking in Europe.

Maybe the mess that is stirring in Asia is starting to affect risk outlooks and we will get carry unwinds. The strength of EURO/CAD today suprised, thought the safe haven appeal of Canada which actually has an economy meant something.

foto my biases is purely from a technical perspective (short term) I expect to be out of this trade before tmr's UK session... I will settle @ 2890 but will leave that for the market to decide. I've seen this pattern before so place my measure on that...if I may those small shorts you took after lunch.. BE @ 37 should keep u dry...just my 5c

That doesn't look like regular consumer level display because the aspect ratio is neither 16:9 nor 16:10. Unless the picture was cut. Curious.

ohenry, thanks for the advice.
Agree with you, breeching 1.2890 looks formidable.
Trade was just for an afternoon scalp. Lower volatility and some direction.
I thought the market was slated to test higher, but when the stars lined up a bit, figured fade on the mornings action was worth a shot.
b.e. stop is in.

I do think the NZD/USD has potential to at least drop some more as the Aussie took such a hit today 4 hr 50 sma was holding as decent support, got breeched this afternoon.

EUR: Moody’s Officially Postpones Spanish Decision

Moody’s has now made it official. They will not be making a decision on Spain’s debt rating until the end of October. This announcement coupled with Spanish Prime Minister Rajoy’s continued denial that a bailout is imminent has been met with disappointment from currency traders. The euro appreciated against the U.S. dollar today but it trended lower throughout the second half of the North American trading session. Moody’s said they needed more time to review the Spanish budget and stress tests results, but we believe they are hoping that Spain will make its own decision on a bailout shortly after the October 21st regional elections, sparing them a controversial decision that could trigger sharp volatility across the financial markets. So far, it seems that the Spanish government isn’t budging. Contrary to the market’s general belief, this afternoon, Prime Minister Rajoy said a bailout isn’t imminent and indicated that regions are committed to meeting their deficit reduction targets. We’ve been down this road before with Greece and only time will tell because we heard the same denials. We continue to believe that the market won’t let Spain off the hook without a bailout. Hope of help from Chinese also faded with the comments from the Chairman of the country’s Sovereign Wealth Fund. He said it is unrealistic to expect Chinese investment in bonds issued by highly indebted European countries until problems are resolved. So what we have left is no decision from Moody’s, no willingness to be bailed out by Spain and no desire to buy European bonds from the Chinese, all of which are bad news for the euro.
