I guess that's the challenge. Seems like a lot of times the M5 is already at the other extreme by the time the candle closes.

It was a pullback on the 15M trend, strong H1 stoch, H15 tape, and significant pullback of M5 stoch; 15M stoch stayed (just) above 80.

Short GU; closed + 19 pips

Tape: H4,M15,M5
Stoch: M15 & M5 pivot out of OB

Yelena, do you wait for the candle close? Your dotted line hints that you don't (assuming the dotted line is your actual entry)

On the AU (at least), what helps you to decide to stay short when, later, all the matrix and stochs indicate a long?

If you look back at your entry pint on the M5 TF chart, M5 stoch was very OB and flat to down, and M15 already near OB if not touching the 80 line.

I understand the divergence was observed in M15, but that doesn't mean you have to trade there.

enter at close of the M5 bar of the dotted vertical line.

most refer to PA. i use correlated pairs to make the judgement. liquidating all positions. +52

Currently long USDCHF, +14 pips, and short EJ, +6 pips

My mistake tonight was flip flopping on the AUD.

But this is also the most "serious" I've taken Genesis. So I'm calling tonight a win.

All good Rob: both 5 & 15 Stox coming down from OB levels, M5 Arrow (+M15 Arrows too now) & M5 Stox bearish divergence to boot (white lines)
S2 & 80%ATR lurking at 2835....

Important (I think): I know that we enter at the start of a candle after a signal but we take our Stox clues at the end of that signal candle (yellow line), so I suggest that as a rule, we put the vertical line on the signal candle, so that we quickly can see where the relevant Stoxs were.

In Rob's example, one candle later it looks like the M5 Stox was already near OS levels when in fact it really was still just below 50 when the decision to enter was made (yellow arrow).

Wasn't in the yen-cross trades, but this is a good reminder to have stop losses on at all times.

Actually, what I do is set an automatic SL of 30pips that is triggered when I enter a trade, and then I adjust it to the last swing high/low +/- 5 pips when I get a moment. I use 30 pips because anything more than that (25 pips to swing H/L + 5 pips buffer), I would not enter a trade. Unless I'm entering more than 1 trade at a time, I would have adjusted the SL within a minute after my entry.

Just makes me feel safer, in case a phone call or interruption happens before I get a manual SL in.

Here is a true story for you. A while ago a trader placed a fairly sizeable long trade on the UJ pair and didn't set the SL because the phone rang. The phone call was about a huge earthquake that had happened in Japan and because that trader has friends in Japan, he listened to all the details. Then he turned on the TV to see it all live and watch tsunami etc, and then tried phoning friends in Japan. Suddenly he remembered his trade and rushed back to the desk expecting to see a decent profit as the Yen weakened due to the earthquake/tsunami etc......but what he saw was a huge spike down as speculators rushed to buy the Yen as the earthquake/tsunami meant that a lot of money would be repatriated to Japan.

The loss to that trader was in excess of $6k!!

The moral of the story is to set your SL and forget about everything else.....even if the house is on fire....SET THE SL!!!!

Oh and by the way........that trader was me.
