its simple probably an example will be helpful
ur equity £100,000
broker leverage 1:50 that means u can take a position upto 50,00000 but if u take position less than ur equity then ur using negative leverage so any position less than 100,000 in this case consider to be taking negative leverage.
thats why its very important one has proper capitalisation to reap the proper benifit and sleep properly,oh yes one can increase the levergage on occasion when market give opportunies but those trendy moves are very rare and 90% of time market stay in narrow band.and that is the reason one should not try to catch every small movement.

Ok, I really like this concept . Not the first time I have run accross it. I have to know, what does he say when price has gone down, accumliates orders (sell orders if it's going down I suppose) and then continues down? How do you find THAT confirmation and what is the difference!? He says there are no patterns, but charts are visual so you must be LOOKing for something.

Hehe... tried to respond by my mobile, but it didn't come through.
The whole conclusion is that not the spot trading market makes the price moves, but REAL MONEY PENDING ORDERS. This is why now, Friday evening the market is half asleep.

I know you meant well and I read all your posts here. You sure know what you are talking about. But this is internet and will always find someone that hides behind the screen with various reasons saying what they say and even with superiority complex. I guess a newbie as myself have to use a little common sense with all the information provided here and how to make use the ignore button.

Well, sometimes news can push the price...
The point for me is NEVER go ALL-In at this point, always think someone wants to buy or sell at better price.

Negative leverage? It doesn't make sense. The least amount of leverage you could trade would be 1:1 and would take an inordinate amount of money to trade for a living.

If you had a large sum of money like say an investment bank, it would seem to me you would lever the capital you want to risk at as high a leverage as possible so as to maximize gains, protect your capital from losses, and inflate the financial bubble with highly leveraged exotic derivatives as the banks had done to create the Great Recession.

Here in the US, the regulatory agencies changed leverage from maximum 200:1 to 50:1 thereby decreasing the amount of currency you could control while trading in the currency market. They also eliminated hedging, i.e.,having a buy and sell trade open at the same time, same pair and in the same account. They also further punished the retail traders by instituting FIFO on open trades. I still can't wrap my head around their reasoning except maybe to handicap the small retail traders and create a better advantage for the big traders controlling massive amounts of capital.

Maybe I'm just not that bright, but could someone please let me know if I am off base here.

You are bright but you are slightly off base.
What Doc means is the amount of leverage you use in any one position.

Ex:
You have a 100k account.
1 standard lot is worth 100k
So if your position is 0.1 lots (10K), that position is as doc puts it "negative leverage" because it is 0.1:1

Account leverage is a different story altogether.
A 50:1 account leverage just means that with a 100k account, you have the equivalent of a (50 x 100K) 5 million dollar account which means that if you leverage up one position 50:1 on that same 100k account, it would be 50 lots and because you have no usable margin left, you are immediately margin called

Until I learn how to open the doors and pop the hood and know where the engine is located, I am not going to hazard a guess. It might set me back $6,000.
