I know Paulus likes to leave it on win or lose, but I moved SL to break even just before Wall Street opened as I never keep a small TF trade open around then. Out for 0%.

Hi sepramfx,

I only the figured out how to do this the other day (after 12 months of trading with MT4)!
I used to place multiple orders for the one entry so I could scale out more easily - this is much less painful to manage.

So here is what you do:

 

  1. Right click on the order you wish to close part of (in the 'Trade' tab in your terminal)
  2. Select close order (just like you would if you want to close out the entire position).
  3. Adjust the value in the "Volume" drop down box to represent how much you which so close out (e.g. if you've sold 2 contract and what to close have set the volume to 1).
  4. With the volume set, you'll notice the yellow "close" button will have changed something like "Close #1234576892 sell 2.0 EURUSD by Market" to "Close #1234576892 sell 1.0 EURUSD by Market".
  5. Now simply press the button close button and you've close out part of you position!


Naturally it will say "sell" if you've gone long and "buy" if you are short. Also you will notice if you set the volume to more than the size of you position it will disable the yellow button and only allow you to buy or sell at market.

To the best of my limited MT4 knowledge this doesn't allow the trader to set pending orders to close part of a position.

I agree with you Fame of Me. Most successful trading systems on FF never remain exactly as they started. Along the way a few changes/ additions are made. They give birth to new ones when traders realise there are ways they can improve on the orignal ones to suit them better ( already we have "2 minutes 2 trades").

I have strong faith in Paulus' system and if time allows, I want to make it my main trading system. If there are ways we can improve on the strike rate as Fame of Me said, then we would have the next thing to the holly grail. Imagine a system where you would bounce from a 10 or 15 losing streak with less than half the number of winners.

Yes, I'm trialling the strategy for both London and NY open. But, I won't hold through Wall Street open (9:30am NY time). Today is a good example. I would have lost had I not moved to break even. Same for major news.

I'll pop in tomorrow if I have any trades.

Hello and thanks for the thread, I am junior member here,
I have been trading FOREX unsuccessfully for about 3 years,
I was wondering what charting system is available to allow the customizing of the MACD into 4 colors.ie what charting package is Paulus usuing?
I am using think or swim and not able to do it there.
I downloaded MetaTrader 5 but also seems to have bugs and am unable to customize the MACD to reflect Paulus original template

I found out what was wrong with my entry, Stoch wasnt above 80 before I took my trade, so entry was not valid.
It was my first approach to the system

there was a second long (after broken FR/LO low) trade profitable today at 1.2255 possible (bouncing from RN 1.2250)....but just watching second trades..
