DislikedThe answer all depends how much you need to make in order to live and put something away. Just base it on an average of 10% return per month. So if you need $5,000 per month, then you should be trading a 50k account.
I rarely risk more than 1% per position on an average, but I am flexible. Rigidity kills accounts. Certain trades I get into will require lots of breathing room depending on the pair traded and the current market volatility levels. As long as you have an excellent understanding of the underlying market drivers, you really don't...Ignored

As a confession I broke my trading plan today. It didnt cost me anything but I have written down not to trade the last day of the month for flows and repatriation reasons causing uncharacteristic deviations of the trend.
Still bearish, will let the hopium fizzle with the rest of the trend traders and possibly demo my scalping system where I dont use a fundamental trend bias. Its meeting with moderate success so far.

No point in throwing out some garbage right now.
Basically though Im just compressing and compacting channels down to very tight levels based on a series of data mined numbers and working with them based on momentum... 5-8 pip trade targets.... EU only

I am happy to hear that they solved the worlds problems today. " For every problem there is always a solution" In celebration of the great news earlier todayI have taken this gift to short the hell out of the Euro. Gifts such as these don't come our way often. Fundamentally nothing has changed! As with the meetings and election over that famous weekend with Greece where they found a great solution, the next day gloom prevailed.
IMHO next week we go right back to where we were. Markets going sideways, gold, silver, Crude, Euro and Cdn right...

Canada Long Weekend and I'm doing our ritual Brockville wreck diving weekend. Won't be back until Tuesday. Hopefully I'll find some of those greens pips I had earlier on this week at the bottom and bring them back up!

I suppose the correction will not be so deep. I expect no more than 38.2% of the entire move, so no less than 1.2560.

I hope you realize that FIFO only applies to same size positions.
If position 1 is 1.0 lots and position 2 is 1.1 lots, you can still close position 2 before position 1. However if they are both 1.1 lots, then you have to close position 1 first
