What is a guaranteed SL?
If something will happen during the weekend and there is a gap, the snb bid would not be filled and they would need to buy at market price.

spread between june and september eurchf futures is 20 pips
so it is 1/4 of pip positive swap (this should be real)

does any body has experience with IKON group ECN platform?

My broker is working directly with GFT Forex UK - spread in this moment 1.3-1.5 pips for EUR/CHF, during the night is around 3 pips..it's a range of 0.8-3 pips depends on your account type. Swap for long around 0.8 EUR/lot. They only are caution for me. Saxo bank increased the margin call because of no guaranteed SL possibility. Even so SNB is defending the peg - they are saying 24/7 not only 24/5 ..so I don't know from where to see the gap. The gap should come only from broker side.

This istatement above is absolutely not true. When you have SL your broker will try to execute your trade at best possible price around your SL. So if the gap is below your SL you will lose more $. (Same goes if you have Limit order to take profit). If gap works in your favour, you will make more $, even if you have limit to sell (take profit) in place.

Misko I have on my account 2 SL types: guaranteed and non-guaranteed. So, what is in your opinion the difference between these two SL types? My broker already explained me the 2 possibilities : or you open a position with guaranteed SL (spread is 4 pips difference - cost more) but it's safed or you increase your margin from 1% to 2.5%. So, I choose guaranteed SL. They have these two options since April 2008 where it was that huge gap with Lehman Brothers... By the way on Oanda you can do transactions during the weekend but with 100 pips spread....so it's possible trust me if the price is going in the weekend to guaranteed SL will be closed. FX market is not closed - it's 24 hours.

exactly, unless his broker is a dealing desk.but there is no dealing desk broker who would not like to see a big gap(down) on EURCHF

yes, I cant wait to see the latest data on the percentage of EUR/CHF volume in the whole forex space. Before today, I think it was around 6%. Jordan sure successfully drive away lots of longs.

You should read to understand what's your exposure of your position during a weekend with "non-guaranteed" SL. Frankly, speaking I do not want to be put in neither situations with guaranteed or non-guaranteed SL. But at least with guaranteed SL I don't come with money from my home.Not all the brokers support this type of SL. This is valid for all the currency pairs depending on the exposure of your account.
From this point of view, in these days, EUR/CHF is a high risk trade because almost everyone is over-leveraged.
This fact has happened to a colleague of mine during last week when Monday morning on EUR/USD the opening price was above 100 pips compared with Friday closed price due Spanish bailout. He was on sell with a position compared to his money from his account (the sum was not so huge). He had luck that the loss was not so big and his broker covered the loss.

gapping: 'gapping,' is a sudden shift in the price of an underlying from one level to another. Various factors can lead to gapping (for example, economic events or market announcements) and gapping can occur both when the underlying market is open and when it is closed. When these factors occur when the underlying market is closed, the price of the underlying market when it reopens (and therefore our derived price) can be markedly different from the closing price, with no opportunity to close your trade in-between. 'Gapping' can result in a significant loss (or profit). A non-Guaranteed Stop will not protect you against this risk whereas a Guaranteed Stop will protect you against the market gapping.
Non-Guaranteed Stops

When a non-Guaranteed Stop is triggered it has the effect of issuing an order by you to close your bet. It is therefore not closed immediately when the stop is triggered. We aim to deal with such orders fairly and promptly but the time taken to fill the order and level at which the order is filled depends upon the underlying market. In fast-moving markets a price for the level of your order might not be available, or the market might move quickly and significantly away from the stop level before we fill it.

Unlike non-Guaranteed Stops, bets with Guaranteed Stops are not subject to 'slippage', even in volatile markets. Slippage is defined as the difference between your specified Stop level and the price at which your order is transacted.

Peter Rosenstreich, chief currency analyst at Swissquote Bank SA in Geneva, said in an e-mailed note today the introduction of “unorthodox policy tools” such as capital controls are “highly unlikely” as long as the economic recovery remains steady.

The central banks work on a ultra long time frames than many of us traders. They work on monthly, quarterly and yearly time frames. They cannot make new policies based on the 10min or hourly charts. Each new policy that is recommended must go through the proper channels before it is passed.

Keep this in mind when we trade with or against the central banks.

Dont understand his logic, how does he relate "as long as the economic recovery remains steady" to "stopping 7mil/minute inflow and currency reserve/GDP ratio increase at 50%~100% a year"?

Even if the economy dosent go into deep recession, you still can have madness inflows that need to be stopped, right?
