Berlusconi says Italy must quit euro unless ECB prints money

01 June 2012 15:53

By James Mackenzie
ROME, June 1 (Reuters) – Italy should leave the euro unless the European Central Bank agrees to pump more cash into the economy and guarantee government debts, former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said on Friday.
"We have to go to Europe and say forcefully that the ECB should start printing money," Berlusconi said in an entry on...

What do you think of the status across all asset classes? Bond yields are all down regardless of risk status, equities are down and this mix up seems to be reflecting on EUR/USD.
Ignored
At the moment intraday low or almost:

- equities (room to go up)
- oil (room to go up)

Up:

- bunds (have room to come down)
- t-notes (have room to come down)

Looks good to long here while eur/usd still having support at mid point of daily.
They think they are smarter than I am.

No it's 8pips range - it's not a time frame, it's a range frame, new bar when it forms 8pips move.

The range is still in its move
- I use RSI - 7 just to catch the over bought/sold and MACD to confirm it.
I do not do my trades based on OSCILATORS, just to confirm divergence.
(I built a script for these range trades, it plays me asound whenever a new bar is created)

You have a nice saying regarding the FEAR, but it is true until we learn to accept the unknown for any given moment and trust the system (whatever we learnt), accept the loses without fear and hesitations, then we are fearless, though in the market but the rest is still under our inner tests.

Ya know... as much as I like zero hedge from time to time... Tyler is just a bit too cynical and devoutly bearish for I think any real, useful, trade-able information.

Not that he claims to be... but he reminds me of a modern era "hip" gold bug.

Gold bugs have been at it since the 70's, if not many decades earlier, that gold will go to thousands of dollars an ounce, the paper money of the world is going to be worthless. hyperinflation will destroy captialism, and that only the insane would NOT own gold.

And, i guess they got the part right about gold going to 4 figures... it just took 35+ years to do it.

I'm still waiting on the rest of the stuff.

In the meantime, i've made a lot of fake money, and had a lot of "soon be be over" good times with it.

But I think they are right. and as my proof I present that in human history, no empire or civilization has lasted forever. I have little doubt that, eventually, this will happen again.

but... as far as information I can trade off of, without getting caught up in the cynicism... I don't find much there.

I'm not saying he's incorrect in his analysis or thinking. I'm just saying I find it, by and large, not helpful with my trading.

As I quoted.... neither he nor I nor I think really anyone has a great idea of what the next 6-18 months will bring, financially speaking, except more instability.

But, I'm sure something will be figured out. It might hurt. It might be financially hobbling... but i'm pretty sure it'll resolve in time as every other crisis of any sort has that has faced humanity since the beginning.

Sorry guys, this was pretty tangential.... The point I'm making is that I find such polarized and slanted information, even when by and large factual, tends to color my trading decisions... and I've found it actually hurts my trading.

If I traded ff such information, I would have never traded anything other than E/U short for the past 3.5 years.

And that would have, at some times, been very, very expensive.

Long when long gives the best of it, short when short gives the best of it, and always, always, always an objectivity in order to know which is which.

If nothing else, some friendly advice from a guy who has lost some sizable sums in the past due to losing objectivity.

X

you mention USD is falling so gold is falling... but, USD has been rising...no?

also, as per your quote, actually, the dow and S&P tend to move inverse to the U.S.D... and since at least the financial crisis hit around 2008, gold and the dollar have had a more inverse relationship than anything else.

how do you figure if the U.S.D. moves up then gold moves up.... it hasn't done this much for the last year or so, give or take. Which makes some sense actually if one considers how overpriced gold was back at 1900+

I personally still think...

The way it got bought up at the bottom without making a new low on the H4... all the metal stocks look the same way.. gap down capitulation by retailers then buy.. without a retrace. NFP will tell... but will be too late for retailers to jump on by then... would be interesting to see what happens next few days on NY open. Remember NY loves to sell gold so lets see how they react.

Also yesterday it fell hard with USD and today USD rose even more and gold rose with it... generally this is a sign that there is strong demand.
