Hi Rooicol,

As stated above, I can’t comment on Alpari FS. However, Alpari UK spreads are extremely competitive. Open a demo account and see for yourself.

after 1 month of trying to open account , I'm going to get my account approved within next few hours , can't wait to start trading with Alpari , have a look on MT5 and it's great ! Hope that commission didn't go too high compare to MT4 ECN in when it's released in July 2

What? It takes one month to open the account? Why so?
Others usually take less than 24hrs, at most 2-3 days.

It's up to our country also , my country require quite a lot verification and I tried as many ways as possible to verify my application , it's reason why it took sometimes . I have to admit that Alpari have great support as they're always online ontime during office time and being patient to help me . If you come from europe , US ...your application should go more faster than Asia countries .
Anyway these verification process make me feel comfortable as well with their security process
One of the biggest gripes that I have with Alpari UK is that they keep closing my demo account.

I have a Live account with them and I use a demo for tweaking certain strategies. They keep closing the demo as they did this morning. I currently have a live EU short and I was testing the same trade for a different exit strategy on demo but they shut my demo down.

I have even traded emails with them and asked for a permanent demo as i have a Live account but they would not do this.

So any stats i collect on a new strategy disappears after a while.

Just no sense of customer service.

Alpari (UK)’s demo accounts are not shut down after a certain time. An automatic system is in place that permanently deletes Demo accounts with incomplete/inaccurate personal contact details and/or incorrect email addresses. Demo accounts may also be deleted if they remain inactive for long periods.

i used the exact same info as per my Live account. I also take trades on the demo. i also got that same link from the person i was speaking with.

I had actually opened a 2nd account with Alpari but after this happened it remains unfunded and i opened a 2nd one with Dukascopy instead.

It is a fairly straight forward idea to associate a demo account(s) with someone's Live account and allow it to stay permanent. I asked repeatedly just to give me a demo account to trade with my Live account but Alpari will not do so. Dukascopy did it the first time I asked.

The arguement I get is that it is an automated process. That is like saying "We have always done it this way"...Then CHANGE how you do it. That is what customer service is about.

Thanks for following up. We appreciate your suggestions and feedback.

If your contact details are correct, then your MT4 Demo accounts will remain open indefinitely, unless there isn't any trading activity for a period of 30 days.

I have a live account and a demo account with Alpari UK. The demo account has been active now for 4 months continuously.

I have had demo accounts that have been closed but that was after I never used them for a couple of months.

Hi Willf / RoverGarden,

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

I checked with tech support and an issue did occur with one of our demo servers. Our demo server does experience some downtime from time to time. Our live accounts though have a good uptime.

The Demo server is used for testing so that improvements can be made to the live server's functionality. I'm sure you would agree that it is better for us to experiment with the demo server rather than the live one for obvious reasons.

In spite of our demo server’s excellent uptime there are rare occasions when it can go down. We apologise if this issue has inconvenienced you. I do understand that some clients use our demo in a serious manner which is something we respect and promote. However, we are committed to improving the functionality for all our clients which requires testing, thereby preventing errors on the live server.

Also, please note that unplanned emergency maintenances cannot be foreseen and therefore, in such cases, we would be unable to alert our clients.

I understand your fear of this occurring in a live environment but we have sophisticated systems in place to prevent this; we have also recently added more servers for our live accounts. In addition, any live server errors that induce a loss on your account are immediately corrected and funds are returned to you in full.

We have always treated our clients fairly. If a loss is incurred by no fault of your own, we would compensate you in full.

From 1 June 2012, MetaQuotes, the provider of the MetaTrader 4 platform, will cease providing support for MT4 terminals earlier than build 416.
According to MetaQuotes, client terminals below build 416 will not be able to connect to trade servers which means that updates and trading will be disabled.


How do I know if I need to upgrade?

If you're not sure whether you need to upgrade or not, it's easy to find out which version you are using:

 

  1. Go to the "Help" menu in the MT4 toolbar
  2. Select "About"
  3. The build number is noted in the left hand side of the "About" window
  4. If you see a build number lower than 416, you will need to upgrade


Upgrading is simple

If you do need to upgrade, you can quickly download the latest version of MetaTrader 4.
