I got bored waiting so I took a short at 1.3271 and after waiting patiently all day, I finally booked 64 pips at 1.3207
I was going to take a fresh long at 1.3205 for a quick trip to 1.3240/50 area but I'm too tired now. Besides, it's sooo slowwww and on top of that it may still have some downside room to move yet... perhaps 1.3180

Same as myself this marketing is extremely boring so trade what you can dont waste the pips

The boredom has got to me so I'm looking at a scalping system on gold..

Hows your cci system working out?

OMG I'm having a hard time trying to stay awake this afternoon

I think there is a little more downside potential to 1.3170/80 and am trying to take advantage of the retail gap fill that often happens before I take this witch long.

Hows your cci system working out?
Very slowly. Back tests reveal profit but at the expense of drawdowns that I didn't like. If you have to allow your trades to go 100 pips underwater to make a 50 pip profit, the system still needs work. So I'm experimenting. I am now truing to build a signalling system made up of the CCi as well as other trend and divergence indicators. It's a work in progress. All this to build an intraday system so I'm not so bored waiting for my position trades to reach profit. Oh well, even if nothing comes out of it, at least I would have occupied my time trying something productive rather than watching candles dance on my screen going nowhere.

I'm taking my honey away to a resort for Valentine's tomorrow so I'll be away till late Wednesday. Don't let the riffraff in while I'm gone

: Yours is way more complex than mine I just threw in Bollinger bands and an sma and trade price action that allows you to get +100 pips but its gold so its not that much unless you do it 10 times a day which is definitely possible given that its on M5..

Enjoy your time away usually I'd feel that I didn't put in effort with my girlfriend but I'm off to London for the weekend

It's an absolute minefield on the M5. I trade the candles only, on 27 crosses, and almost all are as indecisive as you can get. Hardly surprising given Europe. Will have to look at gold sometime.

I use m15 mostly for currencies and 4h for carry trades but today especially I found m5 on gold quite easy to trade just scalping 100 pips a trade or so.. It's my first day testing it so I've a lot to learn about it before I start live trading it..

I always find gold is great to trade when currencies get boring however the higher the time frame the more susceptible to losses so I decided to take what I can on the m5

The system I use for currencies is best used on m15 but I do use m5 and m15 is more like confirmation than anything.. But there's only so much scalping one can do while maintaining a healthy blood pressure ha..

I tried it with crude too but that's all over the place given the recent developments but gold was a great scalper today so I'll test it for a few weeks and see how it goes but so far it's great to fall back on

Whats your spread for oil if you don't mind me asking? I've OILUSD on one of my platforms at 72 pips spread. The charts look fairly clean with some nice trades.

Mine is only a 10 pip spread at the moment it's ask is 100.75 but buy is at 100.85 I use Ava fx.. The s wooing system I was using just didn't cope well with it I usually trade it on m30 with use of 50sma and 200sma and a close above or below either of these I take the trade.. Perhaps if I stuck to this I may have had some nice entries..
Do you trade it often?

I've never traded oil. The 27 crosses keep me busy. However, I would like to diversify if only to try something else for a change. Currencies have been a little hard on the head recently. When you've buyers and sellers on both sides of a range slugging it out or confused, it gets really messy to follow. Its at times like that that I should look at something else as I hate sitting at these charts waiting for them to clear.

I'm the same nowadays currencies are boring all the major pairs are so gold is always good to look at..
If I were you I wouldn't jump straight in monitor pa for a while cause when it moves it generally moves pretty fast especially when the bears take over it comes straight down..
As for oil I just can't trade it too well I get the odd very good trade but i prefer gold to scalp..

No probs. Entery is never an issue for me as I tend to trade certain candles only. It's the waiting. My entries will come fast when an impasse is resolved which I usually detect visually. The trades are easy when the markets are decisive. Of late, the indecision has made the process tedious. You can actually see the market dithering which can be a real pain. Which is why I am thinking of extending my asset classes so as I have some choice rather than be limited to one market which is really not too sensible.

I agree why wait around for entries while not making money when there's money to be made in every asset available and you seem to have a pretty sound method and know what you're at so you shouldn't have trouble trading gold or whatever you choose so long as your MM is sound you'll survive

Absolutely. Having cleared out all the issues with technicals and MM, I am finding that the real issue for me is lack of a life waiting for these trades. A few asset classes will hopefully make things better. I would love to free myself from this laptop of mine. Hopefully, when my funds are sufficient to passively support me with reduced work, I will reduce my trading days.
