i have been trying to trade and analyze more while posting less.

i am curious -- are any live traders actually building a position in either direction within the current range? sure, the fundamentals are bearish but that is far from a reliable indicator as to what will happen next week much less for the remainder of this or next month. I have zero conviction in either direction at the moment and have been focusing on 20-50 pip trades.

having said that, i am carrying a small short over the weekend from 3259 but have been debating whether or not I want to hold. only time will tell, I suppose.

I am only going short EUR/USD at the Top of the 15 Minute Bollinger Band with a MAXIMUM STOP LOSS 50 PIPS above it.

Dollar Rebounded, Markets Just Nervous on Greece, or Risk Market Reversing?

It looked as if risk markets started to lose momentum as Greece headed closer to securing the EUR 130b second bailout from EU/IMF. Friday's selloff in stocks could be seen as position squaring ahead of the crucial austerity package vote in Greek parliament. It could also be seen as a sign that investors were indeed looking past and jumping ahead the Greek events and reversing their positions for short term. We'd like to point out that DOW has so far failed to sustain above prior high of 12876 made in 2011 and risk of reversal is starting to build up. CRB commodity index showed sharp fall on Friday and ended the week in red. In currency markets, Euro, Sterling, Swiss Franc and Canadian dollar showed sign of short term topping against dollar. Aussie was less weak but is also vulnerable to deeper fall. The initial reaction this week to the Greek vote should reveal whether markets were just nervous ahead of the weekend, or they're reversing the underlying trend.

After marathon negotiations, Greek political leaders agreed on the austerity deal finally. But even so, EU finance ministers delayed approval of the second bailout and instead requested three more things from Greece. That include firstly pass the austerity package in parliament on Sunday, secondly find extra EUR 325m in savings for 2012, and thirdly give "strong political assurances" for continuing the reform implementation after April's general election. At the time of writing, Greece's cabinet has unanimously approved the austerity measures, which include steep cuts in private sector wages, cutting 15,000 public service jobs and adding EUR 3b of spending cuts in 2012. Greek parliament will vote on the package on Sunday.

It's believed that Prime Minister Papademos would easily secure more than half of the 300 vote in parliament considering that the main coalition partners, the Socialists and the conservative New Democracy party, have a combined 236 seat majority. Greece will then submit the whole package, including the PSI debt swap deal, to EU finance ministers on Wednesday.
ECB left the main refinancing rate unchanged at 1%.

Policymakers appeared to be more optimistic about the economic outlook. In the policy statement, the term 'substantial' was removed when describing 'downside risks to the economic outlook'. At the press conference, President Draghi said that 'hard' data have provided support the improved economic prospect. He also stated that the central bank was less pessimistic than the IMF's latest projections. The BOE expanded the asset purchase program by +50B pound to 325B pound and left the Bank rate at 0.5%. As mentioned in the policy statement, 'the underlying pace of recovery slowed during 2011, with activity falling slightly during the final quarter. While policymakers noted that 'some recent business surveys have painted a more positive picture and asset prices have risen', the pace of expansion in the country's major exporters 'has also slowed and concerns remain about the indebtedness and competitiveness of some euro-area countries'. This is my opinion, and JUST MY OPINION so don't go trading on this. That is something you need to do your homework on as I may be completely wrong.

This issue is far from resolved and Greece is only a symptom. Globally, banks are loaded with toxic sub-prime derivatives on their balance sheets so indecision is here with us for a while.

This will eventually work itself out and that will involve some sort of adjustment of housing values. But for the time being, I can't see the market turning decisive but flip flopping.

Having said that, capitalism is only just starting internationally so I am not expecting dystopia. Just flip flop, then resolution.

I'm sure someone is, but I don't. I don't care which way she goes. I take what the market gives me and then get the F--- out when it goes against me.

Is it any wonder that so many children today are depressed or have so called ADD. They aren't sick and there is nothing wrong with them. We've put them into child prison for a minimum sentence of 12 years. What else would you expect? Never be concerned if your child "isn't doing well in school". That just means he/she is showing great potential!

The loan deal was approved by Parliament’s economic affairs committee on Saturday following seven hours of intense debate. The plenary session of Parliament is expected to be equally heated. A number of PASOK and New Democracy MPs have said they will oppose the measures, adding to the tension of the occasion.

By Sunday morning, at least six New Democracy MPs and 10 PASOK deputies have stated publicly that they will not vote for the loan agreement. Several more from each party are thought to be poised to vote ‘no’ as well.

Popular Orthodox Rally (LAOS), a junior partner in the coalition government until Friday, said that it would oppose the measures. However, two of its 16 MPs – Makis Voridis and Antonis Georgiadis – indicated they would approve the new package.

Even LAOS’s departure leaves the interim government with 236 deputies in the 300-seat Parliament and it would clearly take a significant rebellion of more than 80 MPs from PASOK and ND for the bill not to pass. The leaders of the two parties have warned deputies that they could be expelled from their parties if they fail to vote for the package.

The debate in Parliament comes in the wake of warnings from PASOK leader George Papandreou, New Democracy president Antonis Samaras and Prime Minister Lucas Papademos about the potentially dire consequences of Greece not opting for the new bailout.

In a televised address on Saturday evening, Papademos said that if MPs do not approve the deal, Greece would enter a disorderly default in March as it would not be able to meet 14.5 billion euros of bond maturities.

"A disorderly default would set the country on a disastrous adventure,» he said. «It would create conditions of uncontrolled economic chaos and social explosion."
"The country would be drawn into a vortex of recession, instability, unemployment and protracted misery and this would sooner or later lead the country out of the euro."

Greek lawmakers looked set to endorse a new austerity deal on Sunday to secure an EU/IMF bailout and avoid national bankruptcy, defying public rage and protesters who fought pitched battles with riot police outside parliament.

Lawmakers came under immense pressure from both sides, with tens of thousands of demonstrators pouring into Syntagma Square before parliament, while the government warned that rejection would demand «unimaginably harsher» sacrifices by Greeks.

Black-masked protesters threw petrol bombs, creating a wall of fire, and home made bombs made from gas canisters as riot police advanced across the square on the crowds, firing tear gas and stun grenades. Loud booms could be heard inside parliament.

"Tear gas has reached the parliament chamber,» said leftist lawmaker Panagiotis Lafazanis.

After days of dire warnings and threats of rebellion, parliament began debating a bill setting out 3.3 billion euros in wage, pension and job cuts this year alone, to secure funds Greece needs to avoid bankruptcy next month.
Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos told parliament that Greece had no easy way out and the alternative to the international bailout - bankruptcy and a departure from the eurozone - would be far worse for Greeks.

"The choice is not between sacrifice and no sacrifices at all, but between sacrifices and unimaginably harsher ones,» he told a stormy debate expected to run well into the night.

One small party has already pulled out of the coalition of Prime Minister Lucas Papademos in protest against the terms of the 130-billion-euro rescue package from the European Union and International Monetary Fund - Greece's second since 2010.
A number of lawmakers from the two biggest government parties, socialist PASOK and conservative New Democracy, have also threatened to rebel but their numbers did not appear to be enough to sink the bill.

Greece needs the international funds before March 20 to meet debt repayments of 14.5 billion euros, or suffer a chaotic default which could shake the entire euro zone.

As is usual in Greek protests, only a small fraction of the crowd fought the police. Others held up banners saying

«Popular uprising!», «It's us or them!» and «Don't gamble away all we have achieved».

An ambulance was seen rushing to the square and police said two protesters were injured in the clashes.
Inside parliament, Venizelos said Greece's future in the European mainstream was at stake.

"Anyone who wants to remain in the euro and in the euro zone must abide by some rules,» he said. «The law must be passed by midnight because come Monday morning, the banking and financial markets must have got the message that Greece can and wants to survive."
