EUR/CHF spiraled lower last week after SNB Hildebrand's resignation as chairman. The cross broke 1.2121 support level and reached as low as 1.2061.

None of this is a change from the status quo following Hildebrand's recent resignation. As such, EUR/CHF is only seeing a mild rise within today's extremely tight 1.2070-91 trading range. There has been talk that EUR doubts remain high enough that some are willing to test the SNB's 1.2000 floor. Seems to us there are much bigger fish to fry than this one. Riskies remain bearish, particularly further out in time.

Barriers at 1.2050 and 1.2025 are seen being defended by the Swiss and by those betting against the SNB floor being violated. Offers are at 1.2095-100 and again into 1.2120-30. The 21-day MA is by 1.2147 last. Topside looks limited while that hurdle holds.

I think the swiss have lost it.... It's almost as if they've an obsession with the euro at this point - fixation.

Trading the swiss crosses and looking at EUR/CHF one could almost tell when the swiss step in and do their thing, even if it's only 5-10 pips. Its REAL annoying and distorting. Friday's close was a clear example when liquidity was drying up.

Switzerland's economy minister Johann Schneider-Ammann expects the Swiss franc to weaken to about 1.40 francs per euro in the medium term, he told a Swiss newspaper on Sunday. "My minimum expectation is that the Swiss National Bank keeps the lower boundary of 1.20 (francs per euro)," he told SonntagsZeitung. "In the midterm I expect purchasing parity to be reestablished. It lies at about 1.40 francs per euro."

They think raising it to 1.4 shows they were wrong at 1.2. Why can't it be just step A and step B to the same plan.

b) when the downward advance stabilizes (last couple of days?) and price starts to trend in the other direction
c) When price reaches 1.2020 or 1.2000


The other question is when will the 1.2 barrier will be breached and the answers are:

a) When the SNB looses the ability to create money by adding zeros to their existing deposits (ie never)
b) When inflation in Switzerland becomes significant (2%? 5%?)
c) When other CB's apply enough pressure to the SNB to make them change their decision (not zero, but definitely approaching zero)

See snb threat holding 1.20 & stays next 1.24 but not understand how it possible by any means price to stay at weekly resistance !!

pa seems correct to 1.072/4 to up towards 1.089 to 1.2100 ok immediate term but how they sustain over 1.2065 next & even 1.2019 without falling . the chart & everything going to manupulate by invention & everything then will go against he gravity ? almsot impossible task to consider .
whatever expect it do price should come down next days breaks 1.2065/19 towards 1.17698 or so before action to up & go anywhere .
so any intervention may be quickly distribute to start selling down next .

yes i must agree 100% in what you say!
its the main reason why i closed my long 2119 in few pips loss (12)
i wait, i let it go before taking another position in this pair. i simply put on some alarms in mt4 near 1.2000 just in the case price goes there near to look if happens something.
actually, to hold a long in this area thinking on a possible interventetion by snb looks more a gamble, since technically everything say down more than 2000 line.

i will not be surprised if they will push down price, eat trillions of stops in long, building biggest bear trap ever seen, and then clear all short positions, kicking price up 300-400 pips straight above 1.2200.
if im snb, this is exactly what i would do at these levels!

one week im waiting snb to comment the move of euro swiss since it is below 1.2100....but frioday jordan didit...... nevermind it is verbal or not...

but for me...it is a warning and must closely wach the market move this weekk....hehe...

SNB can't afford to let go price below 1.20 in my opinion. If they would like kill all the long traders and then kill all the short traders to clear the market, they would suffer a huge credibility loss. Same if they wouldn't do anything.

There is no credibility in the market anymore. The market will not let retailers win plain and simple. When aggregrate positions are short from retailers then the trigger will be pulled. If they do before hand, the market will reverse the intervention within hours.
