As I said yes the technicals look asif it will be headed down, however we cant ignore the fundamentals here. Its whats going to shape the market in the coming weeks, especially in the EZ.

The head of the IIF just left Athens unexpectedly and no deal is expected before Monday when the EU finance ministers meet (as it had been announced) and negotiators starting to question if a deal will even come through now. I think this is all but good news for the EUR.

Greece will inevitably have to leave the EZ, their economy is just not ready to be part of the single currency. I think this will probably be it, there must be a lot going on behind the scenes that we do not know about. But i do expect Greece to leave the EZ before March and default on their debt, followed by an emergency recapitalization of European banks - only then will the Euro recover and probably not before the later part of this year.

There is something I'm trying to figure out when it comes to FA/TA balance. We talk a lot about fundamentals and I agree, we should be mindful of that but... unless you are a big fund or you look at the market as an investor, does it really make a lot of sense? Most of us are day traders. Not in the strict sense of the word, some may hold a position for several days or maybe weeks.. Anyway, when you put in a trade, and the darn thing goes against you 300 pips, do you hold onto it, just because the fundamentals point the other way? So anyway, what am I trying to say? Ah, I think the big fundamentals picture starts being built up from immediate and intermediate news that pops up. Case in point. Last Friday the 13th we dropped like a rock because of the downgrade NEWS. Then we wondered around for a day or so, and we shot up on the IMF NEWS. The IMF was talking about that 1T/500B fund (they don't even know what's gonna be in the end). Since then the market never looked back. That being said, was that such an earth shattering shift in the fundamentals? I don't think so, but that was the starting point of this turn around.... So it's my opinion we should take the fundamentals with a grain of salt and not bet the farm on it, let alone there are as many views as analysts out there.

I agree. But technical should also be taken with a grain of salt.

IMO the term "fundamental" is so broad that it is somewhat meaningless. For some people it just means supply and demand. For others it means the continual barrage of news. For yet others it means larger structural relationships. And for some it means access to data which is not publically available.

For me personally, knowing the fundamentals gives me an edge, but the bottom line is that any experienced trader (even if they are a fundamental guru) will decide actual entries and exits based upon technical considerations.
