Kelly criterion the optimum rate of wealth growth and sets lot size based upon edge. If you have a 5% edge you should bet 5% of your capital. Although this will generate the maximum rate of growth it also has a high degree of volatility so most people like to use half kelly.
The problem with markets is it is near impossible to determine your exact edge.
