Hi,

If we want to use daily pivots would we use the OHCL for the previous days levels?

If so, is this the same for the 4hr and 1hr candlesticks?

Thanks,

John.

John,

You can use this calculator for your own purposes ...

http://www.pivotpointcalculator.com/

This one is more than good enough ...

And then ... there is no need to go with that to lower TFs as four or three hours ...

Daily Pivots are and remain the master key ...

Sometimes it is good to know them for lower TFs such as 12 - 8 hours or 4 - 3 hour in addition ... but only in addition to the daily keys ...

Lower time frames makes no sense ... they are missleading ...

Not a super good idea to watch them in too low time frames ... as it could be more confusing ...

Btw you can use them from this LINK below as well:

http://www.actionforex.com/markets/p...tmpl=component

Or go to their main page concerning Pivots ... where you may find all additional hints about other methods as well ... De Marks Pivots ... etcetera ...

Pivots are more or less a thing to keep in your mind and a thing to start to create some calculations and strategies based on that ...

Not very helpful if you like to implement them into graphical views ...

Mercy, I appreciate your excitement for Daily Pivot Points, I really do, but this isn't the thread for what you're posting. Please start your own separate thread and post a link to it here.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but you've managed to completely derail any sort of discussion with your posts.

Since you started the thread I believe you can block him from posting, which seems like a good idea, because his posts make no sense to me.

This started off to be a good thread, but unfortunately has taken a turn. It seems like a good strat. I use pivots with my Ichimoku trading and they work very good. The problem is no one wants to learn how to trade. The second post with in these forums is usually can you/someone make an ea. Really? Learn how to trade the system, and then if you want make an ea, but learn the system first. The poster dove gave an excellent post and no one seems to acknowledge it. Pivots work very well, as a matter of fact Chris Capre has a similar system that has been back-tested every year for over ten years, and his works great. The only difference is, he knows how it works and worked directly with the programmer as opposed to people on here reading a few pages and think they got it.

If you to trade, learn to trade, not turn an ea on and off. Anyway, hopefully it can get back on track.

Not trying to be mean, only searching for a good Pivots Thread..

Well I was hoping for some general discussion like "I found xx time to be better for xyzabc pair" or questions people might have. If no one has anything new to add the thread can fade away.

Personaly, I don't really care for the EA route, seems like a few minutes a day never hurt anyone.

Hello! Thank you for stopping by this thread. In here I would like to share with you a simple method that I have been studying and backtesting. I have had issues with overtrading and not setting realistic profit targets, as a result my trading has sucked. To combat the overtrading I started committing to a single trade a day, if it failed, that was it. Obviously, that reduced my drawdown, but didn't help my profit taking.

That's where the Daily Pivot Point (DPP) comes in. With the DPP I can determine a daily bias (long or short) as well as reasonable...

i used to use pivot points but, i found no real edge in them you can do the same with a 24h moving average and average ranges.

here is some stats for ya.

2,856 trading days since inception of the Eur/usd

the central pivot has been above open 1,346 times
and only 592 times has the close been below open

that is actually negative expectancy of 48.98% of the time,

you would do better being short biased when central pivot was below open >51% of the time you would be right

No, i love Pivots. We should do more research.

Personally i freak out every time i read "Can we do some Ea on this.." NO WE CANT, learn to trade

Subscribed this thread, let see how its develops..

What i can contribute at the moment.
At first i ignored the Camarilla Pivots but..
they are great. Trying to build a system for me based on daily Fib. Pivots in conjunction with Camarillas.

I don't understand this post Redlion. You're saying that the close above DPV should actually be a sell bias? With close below DPV the bias would be to buy?

Interesting stats. if the numbers are accurate.
Never thought to see that that way.. Thanks.

But a ratio of almost 50:50 is a good sign that the calculations aren't wrong.
Close vs DPV is only one of thousand possibilities to trade Pivots.
And a pretty lame

You cant ignore the pics i posted before. Like a known invisible wall.
