About daily (weekly & monthly) pivots, and mid-levels, I use that indicator.
Maybe you should find this interesting.

tx for the mq version of the autopivot indi, wonder if its any different to the one i posted (ex version)

i'll check the AllPivots indi that The7 posted to see if calculations are the same as those made by Autopivot indi

My intentions for my original post re Autopivot indi was to let readers of this thread know that its working great for Gold since its possible no one has tested it with Gold.

Since I've been forward testing it myself for a while now i've had good results. An EA to trade it would make most aspects of this much easier.

Tango I'll test TangopivotEA on gold.

For gold you have to multiply Delta1 and Delta2 by 10. Try with 100 and 1200.

I started testing the strategy, but if you want to test it correctly then you have to do the backtest tick by tick and not just bar by bar.

Anyway I tested last 2 months on GBPUSD;

Buy or Sell depends on the opening of the candle on which side it is of the Daily pivot. I always close my pending order / trade on midnight (since daily pivots only last for 1 day)

This is the result so far..

SL = S1 / R1
TP = S1 / R1

Total pips = 573

Loss % = 43 %

----------------

SL = S1 / R1
TP = S2 / R2

Total pips = 830

Loss % = 47 %

------------

SL = S1 / R1
TP = S3 / R3

Total pips = 781

Loss % = 47 %

Since the R:R is pretty good (average 1.5, 2.5, 3.5) you still get a 'good' result. But I still have to test more months to be sure.

We also need to look for some kind of filter, because it's imo too straight forward to just look at the opening of the candle to decide whether it's a buy or a sell.

It never stops amazing me... All the attitude that appears here on FF... People get these attitudes about all manner of things... INSTEAD... of sitting back and learning... Yes we can respectful disagree with other members... But that does not make them right or wrong... These types of personalities seek absolutes in the market... Sorry to break the new to you... There are none ...IF THERE WERE WE WOULD AL BE DOING VERY WELL, YA THINK! The method and it stability is important for sure... But more important is the mental attitude of the trader... It strikes me a those who get all wrapped up with their own attitudes (I’m right, your wrong) may not have the temperament for this type of activity. The "need to be right" will blow your account faster that you would ever believe. Sadly some will never get this.

just my 2 cents

any more backtests? so far the win rate has varied from 40-60%. my own system has around 30-40% win and a R:R of 1:2 and is marginally profitable(27
% up for the year).im still looking for a real edge.

As you obviously all know, backtesting should be modeled over 90% quality , ( google this to understand why) , if so we can (perhaps) rely on the results but not for sure.

Any way , i have back tested the EA sent by tranco ! altough i do not know what is inside ( Not proffesional work, for a loosing EA which wont be sold on Ebay ).

this is a looser one in my opinion (my results is n/a quality too )
just 219 $ net profit for a 10k account for one year !

So I have been doing more work on the method and have identified two issues that would account for the big difference between tranco's EA backtest (so far the only one in this thread) and my excel model:

1) Pip range volatility
2) The now known as "Dreaded No Trade"

The actual win/loss % is skewed down compared to the model due to the fact every loss is taken, but not every win.

So I owe you an apology Tranco. Your results got me thinking and helped me with my study.

I am still seeing a real edge with my system, but I have taken it past what is currently in this thread. The more work I put into it the more hesitant I am to share my results.

To get 90% back testing results you must gather some data from Meta Quotes
To do that click on tools,options,charts and then at “max bars history “ press the number “9” up to fill up the box do the same with “Max bar in charts” then close the box
Click again at Tools, History center then find EURUSD 2bl click then select 1min and press download
Then close your MT4 and restart it again and continue with back test
