I will risk you making fun of me, but isnt difference between Friday NY close and Sunday/Monday Sydney open (which create gap on retail brokers) somewhat sign of how traders digested fundamental and technical issues during weekend? I know price is quoted even during weekend, but this can give a direction, no matter that gap closing is nonscence.

Why not pick the close of Monday and the open on Wednesday then? How about the entire ME that is trading today, how about the Kiwis, its 11 am over there, you reckon they do nothing till Sydney? You ever been to the GS desk in NZ? It's huge. You reckon they all sit on their @Rse and wait for the retailers to show up?

Yep, you can alway count on that in here. Some people seem to have an addiction and have to have a position open as soon as their broker opens shop. They seem to get withdrawal symptoms if they are not in a position. Trouble is addicts don't see themselves as addicts!

Although tonight there was some good banter on Cameron's veto and the fundamentals behind it all.

What's your point? I haven't told you to do anything. Any suggestions I give to anybody is in the context of '...this is the approach I would take...' or something equivalent. My suggestions are also targeted to those who ask.

Reading your posts, it's obvious you have strategie(s) that work for you and I would not or could not give you anything that your experience runs counter.

Dunno. It is hard to digest it due to the nature of OTC market. But I thought main providers of liquidity are banks who trade during NY. And NY is shut down, not only retailers. Sydney is shut down, London is shut down. I know there is something happening and banks are trading all the time, but I thought liquidity is much much lower on weekends. Lets say 10%. So traders have some time to digest what has happened during previous week. And price wont run away.

edit: Damn, gap enemy is gone. I need to catch him up during week. Anyone else here dares to guess difference in liquidity between regular trading week and weekend?

Yea, that was nice one discussion. Hardly ever any fundamental discussion here. Only cloggie tries during week, I give it a shot sometimes as well, but fundamental comments are lost in hoardes and hoardes of useless posts. I go to EurAnalysis thread for fundamental discussions.

I don't think there are any US brokers that open up until 6 pm eastern time, and unfortunately because of Dodd-Frank, US citizens can only trade with US brokers. The US brokers must've donated quite a bit to get that legislation included in the over-haul of the US financial system regulations.

Oanda will let you place trades all weekend unless they are doing server maintenance, of course the spread is 10pips for the EUR/USE.

Thanks, I had no idea, I've been with interbankfx since I began trading in 2008, and just assumed all US based brokers opened at the same time. Appreciate the info.
