Exactly.

My swing trades off of daily charts are using 1/10th the lot size I trade when scalping or intraday trading so I can easily handle a 300 pip mental SL and not worry about the intraday news spikes and let the trades comfortably run until I see daily momentum changing.

Trading with a mental stop, discipline is needed to just cut a bad trade loose when you are clearly in it wrong or momentum changes and it's not in profit.

Trade your plan and have the guts to admit when you are wrong and limit the loss. There's always another chance to get it right if you don't blow out the account on "hope"

Ooops lol snuck an extra 0 in there, yes 150, had a pending sell at 1.34416 , it hit that while i was in bed and woke up to an early xmas gift For some reason i keep getting an error when trying to attach .jpg screen cap of my chart.

I had a similar situation a couple a weeks ago. It was just before they announced the increase in liquidity that propelled the EUR up very fast. I had 4 or 5 bad longs and I decided to close them and I did it just 2 days before that announce. It was a HUGE hit. It basically left me with only 20% of my account. Huge.

But the bigger the hit, the better the lesson.

When you're not in sync with the market, you gotta stop the bleeding. Otherwise you'll die (you won't have anything left to trade with). Although I was right in the end - because of that surge - I didn't regret closing those longs a bit. If I wouldn't close them, I wouldn't have anything left to trade with, and I would have had to watch that surge with nothing to trade into my account. Which would have been really stupid.

Instead, I took the hit, learned the lesson (or at least I think I learned it) and now I'm recovering, back at 75% of my initial account.

Looks like loss is part of this game. Hope is not, I'm afraid. Not in this game, anyway.

Glad things are working out.

My guess is that you are overleveraged if 500-600 pips will cause you to lose that much. Might want to think about smaller lot size while you are still learning.
