Regarding USDCHF: I'm still long, but a bit confused about the now three time reversal at 0.7939. I'm tempted to set a more aggressive s/l.
Consensus here seems to be that we'll eventually reach .8 and reverse for good then. But could happen now as well...

indeed the 'gap' level is important; it's a weekly close level.. i shouldn't tell "i don't believe"; wrong words. i KNOW they get filled, after all most brokers close at 5pm EST and that's the weekly close that gets a retest subsequentially from the other side of the 'gap', depending on broker opening time, regardless of when it actually is.

But it's the uncertainty of when.. or more exactly: the extent of adverse move that renders it useless for me. You would have to play very tiny sizes to withstand huge dd from time to time. Knowing it will fill appears to be a nice variable resolved but practically it's of little worth.. i have played with an ea once, trying to find some profitable kind of bracket (stop/limit).. both static and dynamic using daily,weekly ranges.. some primitive trend fitting.. no chance. It behaves just like a standard weekly close when there's no gap at all so i decided to treat them as such.

re usdchf: i have a 'gap' @0.8188 to be filled (July 22nd).. so if i played a long that monday (going for 50 pips), i'd have to swallow >1000 pips dd..? no way. btw that 'gap' hasn't been closed yet. should i at ANY point take a long trade based solely on existence of that 'gap'..? no way.

but if they work for anyone, why not?

i just play SMA in higher timeframe of H4 & D with SMA of 50, 100, 150, 200, 250. this helps me trade between resistance and support.

u can see my previous short position there i posted chart with my short position i think yesterday.


now the next short at 0.8080 if it reaches there i'll keep a pending short there

assuming that SNB wants it to be at EURCHF 1.2, and unchanged for EURUSD. then USDCHF should be around 83

If Eur-Chf is fixed, say 1.2000 - you would be trading more or less USD-CHF. You as an investor looking to safe guard your money, would you keep CHF or USD ?

I would buy CHF --- and will USD go UP?
