Can see your Short bias with your wave.

Today around 1hr before US session open, I did have a Sonic Scout Long G/U around 1.6280, and then with the spike down 1.6220, it hit SL -40 pips.

Now actually I see the Wave even nicer for a Long after that spike down.

Whole day i been observing G/U like bouncing between 1.6260 and 1.6300.
Price did not want to go up or go down.
At this price range, it is same as Mon's Low but today with overall high volume, giving me indication of Accumulation at this low range for Long afterwards.

Price need to be strong move to above 1.6310 for a Long.

As I don't know the timing of the vote or Obama's speech, unsure so means time to sleep.
Let's see tomorrow.

Yes you got a point here... you made me widen my chart to look at the history of where we are standing right now with GU and I can see this has been a heavy consolidation / ranging zone, many times in the recent past... so maybe direction is not conclusive at this time... however your volume study might be helpful....

New to this thread - what's the grey ribbon on the chart please?

Sonic demo 3, was CT to the daily and 4H trend. Entered, reduced risk at TP1 and set a TP2.

55 pips on a 40 pip stop loss for a 1.30R. As always, appreciate any and all feedback - good, bad, ugly.

I think the gray ribbon you're referring to is the Dragon, is an arrange of MA's but you can find it on any of the templates posted or linked in Post #1, as it is a fundamental part of this strategy and some say, the only indicator you may need in your charts for this strategy... go to Post 1 for templates and introduction

uhmmmm ... you do realize that for every short there is a corresponding long, right? You do realize that there is no such thing as "opening a long" without a necessary "opening a short," right?

For every long, there is a short, and for every short, there is a long.

Futures and forex are "zero-sum" game: Everytime you profit, someone, somewhere is losing, and everytime you lose, someone, somewhere, is taking a profit. You are not interpreting "trading at those prices" correctly.

Also, USDCHF has been in a torrid downtrend since June of 2010 ... why do you insist on tryng to pick a bottom that may still be months, even years away?

Why do you insist on making this far more difficult than it in fact is? Do you not want to make more money than you ever thought possible? Why? WHY? WHY?

You have people here who want nothing more than to help you - why won't you accept our help and start helping yourself?

Believe it, or not, progress is being made here. It is hard breaking habits. The advice and encouragement from you, ddaytrader, and all caring Sonikers, is much appreciated,.....and taken to heart, though it may not seem that way yet.

Ok. I have already committed to just trading pure Sonic R. Now, I am ready to add to that commitment:
1. No more adds to any of the still running "experiment trades". They will continue to run until the time it seems right to close them, profit or loss.
2. New Sonic R. trades will be allowed just one entry, for better or for worse.

I am still trying to come up with a commitment on SL management. Perhaps trading with just one entry, I will get closer to one I think I can live with. By using only one entry, should a trade go bad, instead of trying to sweeten the deal by adding, I should be closing the trade if the SL has not already been hit. I will be trying to not move the SL; will be trying to break this habit in August.

Again, thank you all for your caring suggestions and encouragement.

TAH, whenever a Trader(especially a Short-Term trader) uses a word like "SECURE", this is a Big Red Danger Sign.
No one, that is No one, really knows where or when price will go next, and cannot feel secured.
If you truly feel secured, then by putting a specific SL, you will know for sure it will definitely never hit that SL you placed. But you know this is not true.
If a Trader feels secured, this would likely to turn out the Trader will become a Long-Term Investor Holder instead, and this is not you.


By calling your trades as an "experiment", you have given yourself an excusable reason EVERYTIME you do such trade like a Sonic Scout witout a SL.

I have mentioned previously there is nothing wrong with doing your experiment and given support to your experiment, just that it need guidelines and it does not get you into deep trouble.

For experiment, there is an End Date.
When is your experiment's End Date ??

By publicly telling us the End Date in your next post beforehand, then we all know experiment ended.
Please don't said it will end only when the trades are in profit.
Keep the experiment end date to be in next few weeks, short if possible.


A researcher doing an experiment holds certain variables constant, and change specific variables with limitations, and then measure to see what the results will come out.
The researcher should not force out a result that they are expecting, they should just experiment, and take the results as it is.
This is a more proper research method.

Your research method is more like a placebo effect experiment.
You are expecting the results to be in positive pips, meaning you already have an expectation result, and you keep changing all the variables and you don't place a limitations on those changes.
Meaning your experiment is not a true experiment in researching your method.

The good thing about the way you do your experiments is that you are consistent in certain aspects.
You are consistent in:
- taking extries exactly the same way
- taking multiple extries as trades go against you
- moving SL to no SL
- take exits only when you have overall positive pips in your basket of trades
- recording all these chart entries and exits down in your post


Researcher do experiment in phases to either change variables or improve their results.
So far your Sonic Scout entries have been quite terrible, but overall profit is positive.
Have you noticed how Sonicdeejay choose his Sonic Scout entries ??
Take time to study his entries and you will know it is not just the volume, price action is there as well.

Compared your own Sonic Scout trades with your own Sonic Classic trades.
You saw the big difference and how easy it was for you to trade Mon 1-Aug Classic trades ??

You also need to find out exactly what are you measuring in your experiments.
Currently you seem to be measuring only on overall pips result. Is this adequate or reasonable measurement ??
Are you also measuring risk ??
Are you also measuring immediate maximum drawdown after entries ??

Your experiment is on small scale, possibly nano or micro, hopefully not demo after all the endless discussions.
Is your experiment SCALABLE to bigger size like mini, standard, 10-standard, or 100-standard ??
More importantly, would you be willing and "feel secured" to do the same method if you are trading 1-standard, 10-standard, or 100-standard lots ??
Method need to be scalable to big size for it to be realistic and worthwhile.

For you to improve on experiments, suggest you do these phases:
(1) Sonic Scout (TAH's style), you are doing this experiment currently.
(2) Sonic Scout (Sonideejay's style).
(3) Sonic Classic (TAH's style).
(4) Sonic Classic (Sonicdeejay's style).



Regarding SL management, this is really the big issue that Sonikers really more concerned about your trading method.
If your Sonic Scout entries have reasonable SL and you did not add to your losing entries, then this would probably be less hassle to this community.

Whenever you do a Sonic Scout and doing it without SL, and then adding to multiple losing entries, it is like you are purposely cutting yourself with your own knife, you are self-inflicting your own wounds and hurt, and you have NOT realise this yet.
Only your family and friends like Sonikers can see this and are warning you.
Every cut you self-inflict, you also inflict the same cut on another 10 or another 100 Sonikers.
This does not pain you, but it pain us, your fellow Sonikers.

For you to manage SL, you should set yourself a GOAL of hitting 10 SL trades on its own, without your interruption.
Hopefully it will not be 10 consecutive trades that hit SL, but this does not matter.
Even when you hit like 10 SL trades in a row, you will KNOW that it is NO BIG DEAL to have a SL hit, if SL is reasonable small and within your budget.

The ONLY way you are ever going to achieve SL management is to achieve the GOAL above, where you must set SL and TP, then WALK AWAY from your computer for the whole day.
You spent too much time on the computer, you need to just go out and do other things/hobbies for this and next month and you put on automatic SL and just let the trades hit the SL.
Then you will overcome this SL management.

You are more than skilled enough in knowing what is Sonic Classic, what is Sonic Scout, what is Trend Lines, what is Trends, what is Counter Trends, whatever DD is teaching you.
You are a BB (Big Boy) already, you don't need DD or someone else to tell you off or pull up your shoelaces.
You are responsible for your own SL, not because someone else is telling you to put it.
The main thing is not with the technical system you have, it is with the mental system you have.
During your time away from computer is when you can read some Trading Psychology books, and review your own Mental System, rather than spent time on improving or doing a new indicator which does not improve your trading.

In this SonicR thread, you have a bunch of Sonikers that really do care that you do well.
If I don't care, I would not post to you.
Even though some words are blunt, direct and harsh, as long as it is not rude/obscene/abusive, you should be able to take it.
Hope you realised that not many threads or posters are that caring as you have here in SonicR, and this is a testament of your valuable contributions in FF.

Now I chill, and go back to waiting for trades(SonicR Classic, Sonic Scout, whatever, etc) and my experiments.

If you follow the simple "long trade above dragon, short below dragon" rule, it keeps you away from those adding to loser trades, most of the time.

I recommend to forget m1 & m5 timeframe analysis too. Rather watch higher timeframes.
