What just happened? Gap down to a record low in a blink of an eye. Is there some important news or developments that I miss? I hate the mkt.

Same here Amanda, panic panic...
I hate the market. just blinking in a minute, already broke the lowest record. The market has already silent at the moment.

The gold seems alright, it might be due to market reaction of the fact that retail trading crowds aggressively bought Euro against the US Dollar last week as EURUSD dropped from its highs.
Speculator shows that the US Dollar could continue its short-term declines

however, it is a very great position to have buy entry
I just got 1st at automatic buy limit @8674 ...take long TP @8879
and another one at the very strong support @8583 ... TP @8671
I should get the buy position a bit lower @8531...should gain the profit about 30 pips right now

went to south very fast...it will goes back to the north anytime soon.

Buy Buy Buy Buy.....have a nice weekend traders.

Usd/Chf This pair is still on downtrend from 3 days, well this new downtrend appeared more powerful than expected, an early morning wake at news historic lows is very attractice for keep buying.
I believe that the forex market is being somehow ridiculous with such price movements for the Chf pairs, only depending on a news about new conflict or continuation in the middle east and north africa, with also the yen pairs collapsing at every news about earthquake or tsunami or nuclear areas problems in Japan, so all keep selling these pairs in the name of Safe Haven Currency... Ofcourse, it is a big money gaining opportunity but it is becoming a rubbish always scenario seeing these pairs on new historic lows.
I'll not chase new historic lows as possible today low but I believe early morning low price at 0.8530 must hold, if breaks in later hours today, buy at any oversold price, retracement is at 0.8680, break is to 0.8750/60, might not be able to reach here but maybe there was some kind of intervention or powerful news...

Result and new broken support 8560 has opened up almost a hit of 8500
More downside momentum should be expected - possible retracement next week should be a good place to short down below 8500

You may get some retracement pips. I wouldn't put anything large on b/c once we hit the last major broken support she will likely dive below 8500.

I could see potential of maybe 100 pips north to 8650 then re short. May pop a bit further up.

This pair IMO is most definitely best for position trading.On slow time frames it is all noise until a major break.

i was away from my PC the whole day and just saw this slaughter on all CHF pairs. please share your views about this also i noticed that all risk on curriencies (EUR, GBP, NZD,AUD) are gaining against Dollar but these all are failing against CHF pairs. i percieve this as dollar weakness and risk on status of market.

My understanding is when the risk is on CHF is sold. But at the moment when all risk currencies are gaining then why we are seeing the CHF buys in markets.

this movement seems somewhat weired for me. seems some big guys want to prove lot of traders wrong.

Hey Traders,

You are missing the truth of why the Chf powered on friday, mainly leading to a collapase of Usd/Chf, Euro/Chf, & Gbp/Chf pairs.

This time it wasn't because of some news of more conflict in the middle east and libya and Chf becoming a safe haven currency.
No that isn't the reason.

Read well & focus now, The reason why Chf powered on friday early morning hours is because the IMF urged the SNB to raise interest rates.
Yes that was the main reason, then after these pairs retraced up for more than 50 pips, but then they collapased down again because Chf News Release "KOF Economic Barometer" came out as positive for this currency then US News release "Pending Home Sales" completly damaged the dollar and lead for a new historic low at 0.8510
I believe that 0.8460 is a very crucial support for the Usd/Chf, so be aware to buy at first contact and hold your order, because a penetration of this price might lead to 0.8000 psycological level.

So the IMF is in charge of interest rates and not the SNB?
If the SNB raises rates now that would be even more devastating in regards to the CHF bubble. You have been fooled by your informant. There are other ways to pop this bubble and again all this has nothing to do with the CHF being strong, it is a US$ and EUR weakness.
