I'm still kicking myself for not taking a large long position on corn a while ago when I looked at the data and expected major food inflation. However, that was due to weather patterns (I'm expecting the next couple of years to be bad for crops), not monetary policy.

China's been stockpiling commodities for several years now; I'm sure that they've got quite a bit of food commodities stored. I read a while back one of the problems they've been having is local officials stealing stored commodities and selling them. ... believe it or not, there are some crime issues in China; their societal morals aren't that much different than ours in the US.

Saudi's actually got a robust agricultural base. Dump enough water on desert sand and you can get crops to grow. When I was flying there in the mid-90s, there were some areas that reminded me of the midwest with the pivot irrigation systems.

I thought about this and your need for knowing calculations while I was in the gym and as my 50 pip tp target was hit on EU

Question for you ....

When you go on vacation and fly there , did you understand all the math behind the engineering of the plane , the engineering of the airport that you left from and the engineering of the roads that got you there , the bridges that you crossed , the car that you drove to get to the airport, the fuel that was used to power that car ? DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE CALCUALTIONS BEHIND ALL OF THIS ? ... likely not as you would need about 15 different degrees .... yet you understand that you get in the plane , it takes off and you arrive at your destination . THAT IS ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW, just like if you use rsi on a chart ..do you need to know the math .. not really.

If you do not understand the math behind mechanical , civil , fluid mechanics and aeronautical engineering I suggest you should never fly again .....what is worse / putting your life in danger when you do not understand calculations or losing a few bucks ?

No it doesn't, that is irrelevant. Big orders go through several ECN's/banks and cannot be shown by looking at tick data. Tick price changes just means that there are several orders available at different bids/asks, it does not show at all the size of the orders, quite the contrary, they could be 1 mill retail orders or a couple of yards from GS. Just looking at the change of price (most VSA's use HL and OC's add a fudge factor when they are identical ( no bodies, no whicks), then the really good Indy's use a DU filter. They will never show the...

futures IS REAL VOLUME
spot is TICK VOLUME. If you have 1 million tick going off in a candle that is only 20 pip wide on a 60 min and the average tick per 60 min bar is 200,000 and then the next one is down does this mean sellers have just hit the market or not .

IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT A TICK IS OR VOLUME IS then babypips.com is awesome site for newbie traders..lol

structural mechanics
fluid mechanicals
mining engineering
stats
materials engineering
structural dynamics
electrical engineeering
etc etc

should keep him busy for a while /.. kept me busy 4 years just doing my Civil engineering degree.. .. if he does not understand all these he better not drive a car or fly in a plane ever again

First as I have said before I do use forex "tick volume".

But I haven't once seen anyone acknowledge the FACT that in forex trading volume, and price for that matter, are bid or ask changes. Repeat price is bid/ask movement and not actual trades.

So "volume" AND "price" are not the same as when trading stocks or futures.

But nonetheless are useful to those of us who know how to interpret it - no matter how many times the naysayers say ......... it can't be done.
