Hi, i use EMA too, but only 3 (as only 3 available) 12, 24,36 as read on FF on a thread somewhere that these numbers correspond to hours in a day, either way i have found them usefull and use them on 8H, then 2H & 1H for confirmation.

Can i ask why u use so many EMA lines and what the significance is on the numbers?? Thanks

Dx pushed through sbr 7778.7 again
cable on s1 16083
resistance 4 cable at 16104..200 ema and DO 16110.5.
i'm flat looking for a break, in fact i've pulled up Dr. D's charts cos i find them quite canny at times like these.... they are also very pretty and beautiful.

Apply that to KAS and me...
Apply that to being on the CORRECT SIDE
or the wrong side of the patterns in a trade...
Apply that to various tfs that are IN SYNC and out of sync.

IMHO (In My Humble Opinion), after the 50 fib correction, sell with SL above 61.8 fib and TP at last swing low.

Not sure I follow the rationale there [??] . Moving averages
are measures of 'periods' based entirely on the tf that you are
viewing. So a 12, 24, 36 are nothing more than periods based
on the selected tf. A 1M chart will then only give you period
separations at 12, 24 and 36 minute intervals. That's hardly
enough data to trade from. Placed on a 1H chart then you'll
have more to work with. Using multiple tfs is the key.

You could use a 1M chart and put a 60MA = 1H intervals, and
a 240MA = 4H interval and a 720MA = 12H or a 1440MA = 1D.
It all depend on what the chart tf you've designated to use.

The specific numbers (unlike other methods) have no great
significance but the spread of the numbers separated out
from a 6 period to a 144 period is significant as it gathers
larger amounts of data to smooth the price behavior for
easier visual interpretations and the patterns as they signal
potential periods of volatility and sustained price movement
are powerful tools and time savers in a simple analysis.

So, what do you FF fellows think? Is BoE going to hike rates or not? All the economists of the Bloomberg's survey think that BoE will not raise the rates.

ok many thanks , the 12, 24, 36 MA might not make much sense but it has worked quite well for me, but am always looking to improve and explore so what MA would you recommend on a 1H & 15MIN chart.

I would agree with the moron's at Bloomberg. I could be wrong but I really don't see any reason for the UK to raise rates. England's economy is in the crapper worse than the USA and the USA is leaving rates low to pour more money into the economy. With England in worse shape what would they have to gain by raising rates. That would just compound matters in the UK and send the economy further into the shit.

Always love sound opinion/confirmation that my mortgage isnt going to increase in the near future.
I cant see Cameron allowing a hike at this stage whatever he may be saying publicly. Cameron being an area that i'm not all that well versed in. Politicians bore me.
However, quite simply ,he was voted into power to pull the economy around. Hiking rates would further cripple the economy .

Remember, in trading, there are no 'wrong' MAs, only 'wrong' TFs in a given chart set-up.

It all depends on what you are looking for. You might check out Magix's, Eohater's or Turveyd's
threads. They view MAs in a totally different perspective than I. They use and target MAs as
respected levels of support and resistance within price action principles and may even value
crossovers to signal trend changes. There are no wrong MAs, and with 12, 24, 36 because these
moving averages are evenly spaced apart they should work subject to a proven method. On the
two tfs you've mentioned (15M and 1H) and with only these three MAs you may only get a limited
view of the market's mood. It's better to see around corners in an asylum and I would suggest
that spreading 3 EMAs out across a wider spectrum while including more tfs may protect you
from any unneeded molestation and even help you with entries and exits.

I prefer EMAs and since I'm not looking for areas of S/R or targets or crossovers but looking
at them collectively in patterns (not singlely) for compression, release /separation and expansion
/ bubble patterns that signal potential optimal trade conditions and opportunities that often yield
large pip totals in shorter trading periods. I look at all tfs and require EMAs to be spread out
across a larger range (6 - 144) and focus on how their patterns change and even interact and
interrelate with one another on multiple tfs.

Just my view.
