DislikedPlease check your facts. For one thing, the US is a net food importer. You do not produce enough food for your own country. Water is a major problem in much of the western US.
These are facts that I am sure of but I suspect that much of the rest of your information is equally flawed.Ignored
We import oil? yes, We import food? yes ... this isn't a discussion or topic on rather we import it or not.
We have it, & we have the land, and we have the reserves for water.
Strategically think about it, if a 'supply' and 'demand' is high on goods/commodites, would you rather use your own? or use a 'currency' with deflation of 10% per 10 years to pay for commodities?
Importing has nothing to do with supply.
we have a lot of oil, farmland, water. With those 3, we are good.
If we wanted to/needed it, food production would be ramped up and rationed accordingly {U.S. also waste the most access food I think} and we would be good to go.
