Actually with PPP {Purchasing Power Partiy}, we are just evening out a little bit also. Maybe EURO has just been over-valued??? just a theory {not saying I believe in it, just a maybe}.

I mean look at the military stationed overseas, they get 'cola' to make up for the price difference of goods around that country.
euro has been overvalued for a long time....it doesnt have commodities, its banking is shot, and it has lost manufacuring to china, and now it faces credit defaults.

Not to mention it's defense is the U.S. military.

But on the upside, the investors who invested in U.S. sub-prime mortgages are getting their money back! {Yeah!!! go go gov't insured risk}

I think 'manufacturing' will start evening out again in countries in the long run.

China is cheap, but their workers are starting to catch-on to 'human rights' and 'workers rights' ... same as India.

Many of the big corporations are starting to move their production in China to the outskirts seeing that Chinese workers {while working class America & Europe has been getting around -1% to 1% pay raise for last 10 years} the Chinese working class has been getting 8%-15% ... due to education in rights. but moving to outskirts to have the rural workers work for cheaper then more civilized workers around the mainland.

As China Grows, so does their workforce demands & to add in raising fuel costs. It will be a matter of time before countries start to produce their own goods again.

Maybe the 'global' economy is nothing more then the big-wigs & multi-billion dollar corporations not being able to sustain their big profits anymore & they are trying to do everything they can to keep it the same.

manufacturing as a % of GDP is relatively small. in Japan, US, and EU manufacturing makes up 20-25%. How much has it lost? Its a natural cycle of developing (moving to services). EU was a little bit higher anyway.

ok then what percentage are exports? little higher?

look how much market share it lost to china when euro was at 160 150 140.....see a pattern here? you should....

If is just that ... 'what if', I am basing my opinion off of fact.

The FACT is that Iran owes Russia a lot of money, the FACT is that since the middle east was divided up after WW1 into what it is, Russia has been the biggest supplier of weapons. the FACT is that Russia's economy is in ruins and they don't have money to supply weapons.

Iran has a couple weapons & airfields.

Same as Korea, we take out airfields in a 24 hour campaign and they are done.

Russia doesn't have the money to back anyone in the middle east & China, well Europe & U.S. are in debt to China, so they won't attack us.

IMO of course, global economy means nothing more then small confrontations.

exports? I was talking about GDP sectors. exports are not in this equation. Exports are made up out of the three. You mentioned about lost manufacturing. I am saying its natural that countries slowly move away from manufacturing (not completely of course). its part of the growth and development. net exports and the exchange rate are completely different. On average, there is nothing out of ordinary about EU losing a bit of manufacturing.

the u.s. manufactures more then any other country in the world. it uses 85% within and exports 15%. the u.s. also imports more then others. - oil and its not all that the media leads us to believe. keep the 15% at home and china isn't as pretty as everyone thinks. turn down the radio.

To build off of what you are saying, US imports mostly from Canada. We import more lumber than oil.
