Dollar May Appreciate on Republican Poll Gains, Fiscal Outlook, UBS Says

The dollar may rise on Republican gains in U.S. mid-term elections today as investors bet that such an outcome will help limit government spending, according to UBS AG.
Reports “suggest the Republicans will make strong gains in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, which could be dollar-supportive in the near term should investors expect less fiscal spending as a result,” Gareth Berry, a currency strategist in Singapore at UBS AG, wrote in a report today.
The Dollar Index fell 0.3 percent to 77.084 as of 7:29 a.m. in London. Against the euro, the U.S. currency depreciated 0.3 percent to $1.3932.

I don't think it will ever be safe again. But I am buying dips (dips? what dips?) because I know that QE2 will be bigger, badder, & nastier than anyone ever even dreamed of. I really don't know why thee guvmint doesn't just let everybody print their own currency. I would put a picture of Bigfoot on mine. Then legalize ganja, tax the hell out of it, and force everybody to smoke about an oz a day. That would liven up the so-called political discourse in this country. Refuse to light up and you go to work on the ganja plantations. After I cash in my longs this week I will be fading the inevitable BoJ intervention when the JPY hits 79.0. Just those two trades should fund a nice long vacation. I sure need one. Flat line pa got me buggin....
