Yesterday I picked up on getting's post in reference to doubling the default MaxMargin on Phantom_AddSix_02 and did the same on my demo. It closed very quickly thereafter for another 1% profit. Thanks for the tip getting.

My Phantom14_Add_02-taz demo has gotten into one of those long, many trade situations and hasn't closed for about 24 hours. I have increased MaxMargin to 0.5 on that one. It is a small $2000 account so that could be overkill. Wait and see.

WrongWayGravy was not performing satisfactorily, so I have discontinued that demo and eliminated it from this report.

If this EA can perform as it has been with the getting setting (ha), and stay safe, we have got a good one here.

You are using 400:1 leverage, frazerd is trying it with 50:1, which is what we US traders will have to live with.

There is much discussion on this board about how high leverage levels don't help you if you don't know how to trade. But if you do know how to trade, higher leverage levels let you use more aggressive strategies and if you really really know what you're doing, you'll make more money that way without blowing your account.

My move toward the package of tactics we call Phantom_AddSix is with 50:1 in mind. To do well with that leverage level, we have to be extremely efficient and pretty doggone sophisticated. And we still have to stand ready to adjust to further changes in the terms dictated to small account retail traders.

Vienna, I get what you're doing with the three unique-magic-number instances of the EA. That's obviously a very effective way to use the strategy. Smart!

MC, you asked me to look at which pairs contribute the most to closing in the phantom EAs. I have put together some figures for you using only the results from my 500:1 Phantom14_Add_02-taz. I used that one because it has, by far, the most trades and most closings.

The results are very interesting. I looked only at the biggest winner and 2nd biggest winner of each closing and, since this is a taz EA, I had to determine whether the trades were RightWay trades or WrongWay.

Of the 88 biggest and 2nd biggest trades, 60 were wrong way trades. That is almost 70% and I think that is significant. Maybe we need to reverse the phantom buys and sells as a first step.

The top 3 BUY contributors were GBPUSD with 7 1st places and 6 2nd places of which 8 were wrong way trades. Next was EURJPY with 6 1st and 5 2nd places of which 5 were wrong way. Third was GBPJPY with 6 1st and 3 2nds of which 8 were wrong way.

The top 3 SELL contributors were EURUSD with 6 1st and 7 2nd places of which 9 were wrong way trades. Next was AUDUSD with 7 1st and 4 2nd places of which 7 were wrong way. Third was GBPCHF with 5 1st and 3 2nd places of which 5 were wrong way.

I hope this will be useful information since I spent a lot of time sifting it out.

I am not sure what you are doing with this one vienna. Does tp10 mean you have ProfitPct set to 10? The screen comments show a Dollar Profit Target of only $15, which would not be even close to 10% of last flat equity ($1229).

It is making a nice profit and the graph is beautiful, but the lowest margin has been 255%, which is very low for a 400:1 leveraged account. Maybe that figure is left from a previous EA??

Or trade only Wrong Way trades and not Right Way.

This might also give us some insight as to why the WrongWayGravy EA did poorly. We were cashing in 70% of the winners and there were not enough left to ever reach a close-all.

Frazerd, I'd agree with you... for now, but who's to say that the market will continue with that direction?

For now I'm expanding MC's iterations on the AddSix_02 EA (i.e. using different pairs, even using 3 pairs perfectly hedged) as that EA seems the safest and best performing out of all the EAs here.

So far, I'm getting okay results, but as always time will tell.

Hi guys,
It has been a long time since I posted on this forum. But I have been watching and reading this thread with interest. I love the concept of the basket trade. And in particular how you are applying it with the Phantom series of EA's.

I have been trialling the Phantom_Addsix_02 live on a small IBFX mini account and my observations are as follows:

1/ I note that there may be a small bug - I am currently getting two pairs open on the hour sometimes, both on the same side of the hedge (G/U and E/J). This has occurred several times, but not every hour when one or the other has opened. Also commented on by Vienna.

2/ I think it is destablizing to the trade pattern (I am not referring to the basket hedge) when a large move is made in a single pair between the hourly check by the EA for the biggest winning pair. So for example Cable moved up rapidly over 1300/1400 GMT yesterday (20th Oct) - this meant that the EA is taking only trades on this pair but it has missed all the big move up (intra hour action). It then starts taking trades, even though the price action is pulling back and all the existing cable trades are currently negative. I believe Frazerd alluded to this also.

With a very large move on one pair within the six tradable pairs if there is a subsequent and sustained pull back we may find the EA going into some level of drawdown before the other side of the hedge is able to counter balance - since it is forced to only trade that pair until it gets a pair from the other side of the hedge to become the biggest winning pair (but I guess this will depend on your initial risk plan).

Possible solution: have the EA check every 15 minutes and trade 1/4 size contracts for similar margin and spread risk. Also have the EA only add positions when all previous positions are profitable only (as in some of the other versions), this is less likely to negatively impact the results as the EA would be checking every 15 minutes. The dd will also be contained as a result.

I guess there is nothing really new in my comments - but felt it worth summarising and the fact that others have touched on these points also. I am not a programmer, so am limited to observations.

I think you guys are doing an excellent job - love the effort and the energy.

the intra-hour spike it could help you also. i mean it could go in yr direction and help you reach the target quickly.

however theres nothing wrong checking every 30 min or 15 min. its easy fix to do

I agree Roundrock, but I was referring to the situation where it makes a big move intra-hour prior to being the most profitable pair and so does not register any trades until the next check by the EA at the top of the hour. This has happened yesterday on cable. Now it is sitting on eight loosing positions - having just taken another a few minutes ago (since it is obviously still the most 'winning/profitable' pair). This will mean the EA will take some time to 'dig' itself out of this DD hole - unless the price action continues back higher.
