The sales are the lowest since the agreement was signed in 1999 and well below the peak of 497 tons in 2004-05.

Central banks are now buying more and more gold and not selling it anymore. This is a huge shift in the gold market... They see that just holding paper currencies isn't the best way to manage their reserves

gold is a myth. a way for the kings possessing it to get the peasants to work for it/them. other then jewelry and limited industrial applications (because of price) its just above worthless. except in ancient culture rituals. gold is the ultimate pozi scheme. w/o buyers as in any pozi scheme it drops.. its easily traded for lower cost hot lead when need be.

One day it will be a bubble but we are far from that point, so I agree on the Ponzi scheme. I don't see a lot of people having gold coins... there's a lottt of people that don't have any money in gold stocks ever... majority of people don't know the price of gold. This is far from a bubble. All that noise, gold is taking it to new highs! Inflation is coming up, this is going to change a lot of thing!

Also, gold is money you have to remember that.

those guys selling gold trade it for usd.. when they stop.. the usd has a problem..until then we dont.. if its so valuable why would they swap it for paper? next time ask the salesman if he gets a check (usd) or works for gold dust.. just a myth..

right now it's more probably that we see a deflation (or at least a low inflation) than a high inflation rate.

and remember - if the whole financial world is really crashing - you can't eat gold, buy a farm if you are feared by a hard financial crisis in the future.

But see people who are selling gold not necessarily want US Dollars for their gold. If I sell gold I want canadian dollars for it (I'm Canadian)... so you change your gold for US$ but this US$ is going into other currencies or other assets or just a need of liquidity...
