i was watching a documentary on the 20yrs of deflation in japan.....and they were saying how with the current global state, they could still very likely be in a deflationary spiral 10 years from now. Theyre really screwed.

Not sure if I saw the same doco, but it pretty much said the same thing. They *are* screwed, and there's sweet f a they can do about it...apparently

That report from Bloomberg is somewhat biased...

There are definitely signs of a more responsable economic policy, since the panic and EUR free fall in May, Merkel got angry at PIIGS amateur GVT´s and some thing have changed...

At least here in Portugal all the fancy and expensive construction projects, like the High end 200+ MPH train, the new 2BnEUR+ bridge and many others have been "post poned"... The well fare and unemployment checks have been tightened so there is some clear effort here to reduce GVT spending...

Is America doing the same thing?...

It could be headed to 1.2847 then Bull continuation...

Can't compare apples with oranges......comparative size of economy.....exports.....technology.....many areas where there is no comparison

Sure, but he other PIGS are also making effort to cut GVT spending, you´ve seen the riots in Greece, it happened because of that.

They rioted... But if GVT tightens well fare policy then sooner or later they will have to get back to work... Like in the old times when they said "No work no food".

I can´t tell about other PIGS, but at least here in Portugal there are many jobs offers to fill...

Only because someone is unemployed it does not imply that He is actively seeking to find a job.

Every week We see in the news business owners complaining that they can´t find people to work at bars, coffe shops, etc.

In the past years there were unenployed people that refused jobs beacause they wanted better wages and because they preferred being at home receiving EUR from GVT, now with tightened wellfare policies it won´t happen so much.

It does not mean that the problems are solved... But we are facing them...

Where I live the government projects have kept going. The private projects were tabled for a time, but there is activity. They still build houses here, and the prices never took a big hit. If you have a skill and want to work, there are jobs. I think we have fared better than most parts of the country.
I am a self employed engineering consultant and have never had a problem having enough work.

Yes, but the 'cure' is more than just govt spending. That's a large part of the equasion for sure, but it's not the whole story.

We are doing the same here in NZ, but cutting govt spending is just one part of the jigsaw......ramping up exports is another crucial area.

So you see it's difficult to draw comparisons with USA....which is still the largest economy on the planet

2 shots.. the first shows the tl... in it you can see where it was broken marked with a red X. the second shows a cloned tl from the first touching the first breach. i consider tl broken below this line. like it is atm. if it don't go lower i will clone another below the where we are atm.
