This thread is excellent. Quite point on how to use Ichi. Is there anything on wave counts? According to the creator's grandson and the creator the wave counts are the most important to this system. Most traders I talked to don't know how the wave counts work.

Hi soondoock.

Usually I dont trade 1min. I do it when I don't see any signal in higher time frame and I will only be looking for 10 to 30 pips move depending on what time and what market session I'm into, like tokyo sessions it is more low volatility I will look for a 20 pips. I will most of the time use the 1min in the same direction of the ichimoku on higher time frame.

I have been using so many different indicator everything you can think of.
My mistake is not using the Ichimoku sooner. But now I'm maried to this indicator. I trade less and make more pips. I get less frustrations, because it filter out the bad trade.
It give me more fun to trade. I'm telling you if you are still searching for a way to trade give yourself the chance to look at this indicator.

If you have the discipline to follow this indicator you will succeed in forex.

(you still need to understand market behavior in conjunction with any indicator you use eg. like double top triple top reverse candle etc.. but Ichimoku give you the best hedge when to enter and when to exit or stay in a trade.)

This is my 8 years of trading experience conclusion.

Well may be I am a bit weird trader, but I am not aiming to grab all the pips from market, 20 -40 pips per day is enough for me. But I want to risk the same amount of pips.
I agree with you that ichimoku is all in one, I like to put it on the chart and make analysis for my self telling what I see. But Most information we can find in the web tells us that this indicator is best works on higher TF's. And you understand that to risk 20-40 pips on 4H tf is ridiculous. That is why I was asking about 1m, 5m. It looks good sometimes, sometimes not. So I was wondering, maybe some one has long experience of scalping using ichimoku on these time frames.

I have some experience with Ichimoku and am about to return to regular monitoring.

I would love to see this thread revitalize. Ichi certainly is worthy of it.

BUT, interested in Lejumeau's work across so many TFs. I see you don't normally trade M1 but perhaps all times above?

What is really working for you?

Anybody watching this site making any small but successful adaptations? I was interested in the wave count comment recently. Unfamiliar with that in ichimoku.

You can use Ichi on 30 min and 1 hre with easy stop loss of 20 to 40 pips, even on 4hr if you get in a real precise time.

what ever time frame you use all the same rule apply. But if you trade when market session is about to end or between 2 market session you will get to many false signal because the market is ranging by only 20 pip or even less.

Here is an example on 30min from few days ago.

1. chikou brake a new low after ranging period and the red kumo cloud is now going downward
2. price pull back right at the teken and kijun, red, and blue line. So we enter the market at this point to go short. ( any time when price pull back to the red or the blue line is a good entry point because price tend to bounce of this line.
3. take profit price get back into the teken the red line and it cross back up the blue line. result 70pip gains

Second example

Look at point B the chikou purple line brake the previous hig at point A.
That means we are breaking up on a ranging market.

Point C is where we get in after the move market come back at the blue line wich is right on top af the previous high during the ranging period. and the kumo cloud is now going upward.

Take profit at D1 or at D you can choose since the market did a nice move I would miself use the cloud as a signal to get out wich is D
Result 100 pips gains.

When you get familiar with Ichi you will reconize more easily when a setup is occuring. This Indicator will keep you out of the market when it is not going anywhere, so you have to be more patient But what do you prefer making Pip or overtrading and loosing money.

Agreed.

On the hunt for EUR weakness, three options with valid signal were EUR/CHF EUR/JPY and EUR/GBP. Afraid of Central Bank intervention in the two former, I opted for a short on EUR/GBP at the Chikou span cross closing price. Weekly charts show last week closed below a flat TS.

New positions:
EURGBP Short:

 

  1. Entry: 0.8220
  2. Stop-loss: 0.8465, also watch TS direction change, Chikou span above price curve for earlier exit.
  3. Signal: Neutral/Strong bearish Chikou span cross. Weak bearish TS/KS cross occurred prior.

Sinner it looks like I've been missing something here. Ichimoku was one of my first studies in Forex and I recently made this post here. Unfortunately the set up has not yet completed (TS/KS cross) although I think the price may have dropped below the cloud.

I'll have a closer look at your analysis but you know I'm bearish this pair and have some long term positions because the monthly 200sma is at .7200. You know it might never get there but this is one of the better trending crosses imho.

Regards to Ichimoku studiers here. I'm looking forward to learning more.

Overnight markets moved down strongly in risk averse mode. We look for a good signal to capitalise on the fear and find NZD/USD has made a weak bearish TS/KS cross in the last few days and last night was enough to bring the Chikou span to facing down below the price curve. Wary of further "risk on" moves, however would like to capitalise on downside.

Euro weakness continues to be a theme across markets. Wish I had taken a short on EUR/CHF rather than EUR/GBP as this weakness seems to be most pronounced there. Fridays action generated a weak bearish TS/KS cross on the EUR/USD and will seek to capitalise on that this week.


Occasionally when market forces align strongly, a traders book can become overheated in one direction or in favor of a particular currency. On establishing a EUR/USD short, our book will have not only sold the Euro twice but bought the USD twice also. This is definitely a factor to keep in mind in future trades, we will not heavy the book one direction or another, rather we will let any prevailing market trends play out with the trades we have allocated.
