England loss takes a bite out of English economy

England's 4-1 souls-flying-up-out-of-bodies-and-disappearing-into-a-giant-swirling-maelstrom-in-the-sky to Germany yesterday may have been a drag for the nation's hopes, but it was an even bigger drag for the nation's retailers, at least according to a pre-tournment study conducted by the Centre for Retail Research. The study found that English retail sales would rise by £987 million if the team survived to the knockout rounds — so well done, men of Blighty.
