its fluid.. today it 75... next time if eu slips a few hundred pips it may be 70 or 65...

the last time before today it was about 75.. at 55 i dont know but that's about 27% lower oil so i guess euro 27% less.. but oil will always have value cause its a commodity.. euro may not.. euro should not be priced higher then the aud..

gator i agree with you. prices are manipulated. but this is not new. this a common feature of human behaviour. it is the same when you go buy souvenirs in a souk in Casablanca or a pueblo in mexico. there is plenty of the plastic dolls but all the sellers ask the same price so this is what you have to pay if your bus is leaving and you need it. try to rent a condo in the bahamas, there s a full range of empty condos but unless you are willing to spend time looking for the owner and you will have to pay what the agent asks, i.e. an inflated price. oh and should i mention the retail market where they change their prices based on what the other super market charges ? all prices are manipulated to a certain extent. houses, dolls, milk, oil.

keep in mind that some/all airlines buy oil months/years in advance. ticket prices doubled just like the price of everything else man. we just haven't noticed yet..bottom line is oil is down and that's because of demand is down.
shell game anyway, @ 50 bucks a barrel, they're making billions

Industrialised nations will drop oil, car/plane/boat engines etc that operate without oil are in existence, waiting to be employed on large scale.

BP promised to pay all the clean-up costs and that alone will drive them bankrupt. nasty counterparty blow to all the banks. inventory selloff = oil down to 30 or so bucks. say goodbye to the fake recovery only lawyers and bankers believe in. time to purge the useless parasites like we should have done in 2008.

who cares about 1940? what was the demand for oil in 07-08 vs now? This is what we have to compare to..you're going back a little too far to compare oil demand then vs now..
With oil man, it only has to sit for a day and it starts costing billions..we don't have very much oil storage on this planet, period. when the storage is full(which it is now)...the wholesaler drops his prices to get some profit on his books/pay bills/whatever. the speculators are gone now, it's on us.
when the storage is empty and we're burning the entire amount that they DECIDE TO PUMP...prices go back to where you're thinking.
keep in mind 50 per barrel is enough for saudi's and whoever else to make money..it won't stay there long of course but they've already given their "fair price targets"
