Recently Digger1 introduced me to the power of camarilla pivots. His trading partner from NZ first discovered their value as significant levels to which price will move invariably and inevitably each and every day.

Cam levels are calculated from formulas based on a fixed set of data from price points determined from the previous day. He uses the NY close (5pm EST). They have observed almost without fail during the course of the day price will move thru certain camarilla pivot levels and on to and thru more critical zones such as level 3 and 4. Once price direction is fully committed in its move away from the open it will at some point reach and go thru the L3 - L4 if it elects to move to the lower side and or to and thru the H3 - H4 zone to the higher side. Some days with larger daily ranges it may do both.

While first learning this method, I’m safely searching for optimal trading opportunities in these key L3- L4 and H3 – H4 pivot zones. Trading the uncommitted zone immediately above and below the open [H2 -L2] might be considered an area to approach with caution and give greater respect as a buffer zone.

As with any S/R, cam pivots are areas to respect since they behave as key levels of support or resistance until breached.

I've notice the traditional discussion on camarilla pivots seems to place more emphasis on using the level 3 [H3 or L3] as areas to look for a reverse trade and the level 4 [H4 or L4] as areas for breakout trades; whereas, from what I have gathered, Digger1 views the zones situated between levels 3 and 4 as ‘almost quaranteed' trades. He’s often said…. “…at some point during the day if price has once cleared the 3 level, it will almost always reach the level 4 (as a target)”. Today it did so in a very convoluted fashion by first moving all the way down thru L3 (yet not quite reaching the L4) and then back up again to L1 before eventually returning downward and completing its mission to finally reach L4. [1.5129]. Notice the low was at ~1.5124, just below the zone.
