thanks...i normally ignore SP but lately something got me interested in it. Along with the recent volatility...

anywho, indexes are crazy beasts to go against long term UPtrends...once it starts going up many shortsellers can get caught calling the top since the trends usually follow a (very) narrow range.

let's see how this one plays out.

that is the volume histogram .... gives me the price levels of high volume for the day ....

for volatility the s and p has gj beat hands down .... ES is a great way to make money and a great way to lose money and very quickly if you are on wrong side of trades... ranges have been 300 pip plus in a day in recent weeks

Have you seen GJ malc.. what a move.. and currently EJ is testing the breakout point.. imho..

yap, but i was referring to the market structure this time...calm before the storm or smth like that.

Trends don't like volatility...at least at this stage in S&P IMO.

It just makes me wonder where do we find further continous upside momentum above 1200. Are the big players prepared to buy into resistance ?

If you are willing to take in the idea of market cycles, the few American major indices have a long term high point around late May-early August. At that point they will also finish a complete long term cycle. I guess any significant down turn would come in the second half of the year.

I am thinking this volatility we are seeing maybe marking a top

we may head to 1270 then take it from there

EURO-DOLLAR: Euro continues to edge higher with traders pointing

to talk of more details about the Greek aid plan and trimming of euro

short positions. The euro trades briefly back on a 1.3390 "handle" -

($1.3394 high in late US action) revisiting the highs seen overnight

($1.3397 o/n peak). The pair has slipped only modestly lower

subsequently. Stops expected on a clear cut break above $1.3400 which

was also the high seen Friday.

post a high around $1.3413 before stalling. The the market now eyes

Thursday`s peaks around $1.3420 and Wednesday`s at $1.3447. Traders say

the liquidity has been thin since Europe and Ldn went home.

we spoke to people in bloomberg today, and they are saying that market concensus is that greece will kinda survive the summer and will default in september / october so I guess then or just before we will see things setting up for a drop.

yeah I really want to learn how to ride these waves up and down. haven't quite got the hang of it yet, but I still have to dig into the literature a bit more and do some more practicing. my own technique works pretty well but it involves holding trades for longer and larger profit targets. it might be better to learn to surf these smaller waves. working on it I enjoy reading your posts on how you do it.
