Reason I ask is I'm looking at a tf for me to start trading a larger account and was looking at 1 years time...
regardless of acct size, imho just aim for a small target. Small enough that you find it almost impossible not to hit.
Say for example 1%, I mean, the priority is capital preservation, that'll mean breakeven, so 1% is an achievement.
Many will laugh at the idea of going for a minute target, but keep in mind that the grossly known fact of 95% failure would mean that there are not many who can even make 1% profit consistently.
So 1% from a small account now while you're practising might not mean much, but when you do have a larger amount in your account, that 1% will make a whole world of difference. The key is to familiarize yourself with the target from the beginning, remember the mechanical part of trading plays a small part in trading, most of it is psychology.

Personally, my target is between 2%-3% monthly.

Wasn't it Einstein who said that the most powerful thing in the Universe is compound interest. I saw it on someone's signature on here! 1% every month soon adds up, and if you think it will take 100 months to double your money, you're wrong!

And on that note I just closed my long with +25 pips which is 2.5% of my capital ,,, small but beautiful

I agree but I want to be making 5% per month consistently at least for the risk associated with trading. And if one is conservative (2% risk) making 10% pm shouldnt be too hard...

Guess consistency is the name of the game but I have been trading simulated 3months with gains much larger than 10% and now my 1st month live should end above 10% as well...

Largest draw down was when I just started my live account and the emotions rocked me a bit causing me to make stupid mistakes and that drawdown was 6%...

I am using my three little runners theory today. Closed one out already for a profit, moved the rest to BE, so my position is now covered with a little profit to boot. Next TP will be around the 300 mark (not decided exactly where yet) and the third one for the $2 target (I'll move the SL along appropriately until it gets hit)

Just made a new high... just about!

people trade for different reason..believe it or not i trade cause i enjoy it..the money side of it just makes it interesting..the main thing is to develop a level of consistancy...this is the only year where i actually made a profit..and believe i almost didnt..

i had to make 1800 + pips without a loss to come out with a profit

and i literally came out with just a bit over 1% but learned heaps
