Hi Gazbah,

Thanks - I'm sure you will get there; it takes a little while but with more and more practice things start to fall into place!

I've pretty much wrapped up my forex trading for 2009 so I will have some spare time to put pen to paper (fingertips to keyboard really) and get a summary of my trading style put together!

Regards,

Dan

Agreed with you, DanUK, on "more practice!"
Just that being newbies we need guidance or comments to correct our entries.
Looking forward to seeing your documented trading system.
Have a great weekend.

Hi all,

I am almost there with my trading summary - it turns out it's a lot harder trying to put everything into a coherent document than I originally thought!

I am also going to collate my stats for the last few months and complete my 2009 journal with the total profit/loss pip count.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone who has posted here and on my other thread.

Regards,

Dan

Hello,

Well I still haven't managed to complete my trading summary - as I sat writing I began to realise how much my trading has changed over the year.

Although my overall strategy of trading the trend is the same as it always was there are little changes like how i draw trendlines, support and resistance and use of price action setups in my trading that have altered very slightly.

So I am not going to post my summary here - instead I am going to close my 2009 journal and start a new thread outlining everything from the start - that way things will be clearer from the outset.

Watch this space... once I have things clear in my head I will start another thread and post a link to it here.

Regards,

Dan

Hi, Dan!
You've been doing great! Congratulations and thanks for sharing!
A couple of days ago I posted a question on the other thread you probably missed, that's why I repeat it here (apparently it's not about your bread and butter but nevertheless:

Hi Dan,
Thanks for your threads which i've been following for quite some time! So when you write about trading stocks, you actually mean stock CFDs or real stocks or both? I remember your post with a ProRealTime chart and was curious about technicalities or rather methodology - do you analyze stocks using some free (at least on daily basis) charting tools like ProRealTime and place your orders elsewhere or do you use the trading platform of the (stock or CFD) broker of your choice both for analysis and trading? Would appreciate greatly if you'd share your "technical" experience with stocks / CFDs.
Happy New Year and thanks once again!

Hello Dan,

You're very organized, I guess that's also one of the reasons you're successful.
Did you also post the trades for first 8 months of 2009 or are you going to?

Very interesting stuff. I looked the same for me too, for 3 months, then I started my personal vendetta against GBP, which eventually led me to disaster ) ... as expected. Now I am picking up pieces and try to approach this as you do. Thanks again for all your help. Have a very good year and many pips in your pocket.

Hi Valtom,

Sorry I missed your question. Yes you are right, I trade stock CFDs rather than the stock itself (although I used to buy and sell the physical stocks before I came across technical analysis). It has been my experience that the charting platform provided by most brokers are not very good so I tend to use ProRealTime for my analysis and then execute my trade using the brokers chart (just to ensure they are in agreement). Most of my stock trades are based on daily charts.

Hope that helps.

Regards,

Dan

Hi Fxacs,

I have posted my monthly results for the first 8 months but they were posted at the end of each month (I only posted the last few months here because I got a little lazy in posting them at the end of each month!).

The trouble with GBP is that it is stuck in a range between 1.5800 and 1.7000 - which, if you look back in history is often a choppy area. It's not in a real trend, so we have to adapt to those market conditions. This is where horizontal support and resistance levels come into play and is something I am going to discuss a little more when I start my 2010 journal. These ranges are tradable but the best advice when price is range-bound is to switch to a currency with more direction!

Regards,

Dan
