I am a newbie too and I will wait for a clear signal of where it is heading...don't get anything from the charts. Maybe tomorrows news ,the CB consumer confident , will give us some direction. It looks good for the dollar...I think.

It's not the traders who are at the desks right now but the "spares", the "juniors", the "new guys". Whichever euphemism you chose, the real people trading the real money are off until probably the second week of January.

So the short answer to your questions is "no".

sounds like speculators etc. i do not like that of games .. i stay out until second week of January ... i tend to come in at the wrong time and cannot get out until it is too late ...

thanks for that .. i am also not getting any definite direction yet in the longer term ... i tried the scalping but not working for me ...

i tend to lose focus very quickly and impatient to get out ...

i actually have the oppposite opinion, i have a feeling though dollars may going down, well at least for a bit ....it has gone up a bit too much ... a bit of a substantial correction before going up if ever ...

yesterday night my broker gave me a spread of 7 pips on euro/usd instead of 2 pips.....

I don't know who your broker is but Oanda has it clearly marked on their site.

SPREADS:

  1. Dec 24 (noon EST) - Dec 27: 'weekend' spreads available
  2. Dec 28: Spreads may be wider than normal depending on market liquidity and volatility
  3. Dec 31 (noon EST) - Jan 4 (London open): 'weekend' spreads available

Are u sure? Hasnt been that low since before the christmas gap on my chart. Either you are having enormous spreads, or you need to update ur chart.

Its at 78.08 right now.

I meant the news was good for the dollar ,but thats only short-term ,long-term might be bad for dollar...depends on what bernanke wants and other stuff. what about the new healthcare-plan will bring the dollar down?
No scalping here either...have to stare at the screen...

If oil is trading higher what will happen to the pair?

If gold is trading higher what will happen to the pair?

If European stocks are trading higher what will happen to the pair?

If US stocks are trading higher what will happen to the pair?

What if both euro and US economy are doing great?

What will happen to the pair if the US increase rates?

This will not happen 100% but is what people believe "happens".
And yes sometimes it does.... The reaction correlations work best when only oil is the one going up or one of the other you asked about... when there is more stuff happening it is getting even harder to look at it like this...

I personally have no problem making money with no indicators at all... All I look at is the candlesticks on the actual cross I am trading...

That are good questions! Specially the last two ones...
I remember that was an issue as well in many other forums...
Yes - true - that may be one of the reasons - why market wants to drive that pair down since beginning of december - because not only a few are believing that there might be a change in that rate issues sooner than many american forex participitiants are expecting...

Anyway - it looks to me still as if a bit toppish at this area...
