Hello, I read the forum a lot but hold back from posting, not sure that I've got anything relevant to contribute, being rather new to this still. This might or might not be useful, as I don't know how you trade, but it might help someone.

But when I read this my first thought was that maybe you need an additional filter.

For example, I've also been tearing my hair out over the past two or three weeks because the patterns that I had seen (and felt comfortable with) over the summer just haven't been happening.

So, it's felt like going back to square one - find a new way to look at the markets that suits me.

Then, when I was watching a video that Phil Newton has done on his breakout strategy he said something that has been key to changing the way that I look at the charts every day.

He said that his breakout strategy only works when the price at the London Open has been consolidating in the top third or bottom third of the previous days range during the Asian session. Then he said: if the price isn't in that range, then anticipate a ranging day. Lightbulb moment.

This has given me a brilliant additional filter for day trading and I've found it really helpful. Today, of course, was a perfect range breakout. The first three days this week however, a new low/high was made during the Asian session and this really seems to mess things up.
