for all it is worth I have one long on the USD-CHF at 1.0700. This is a smal risk trade for a 40 pips. I dont know I looked at all other pairs I trade as I wanted to trade and this is the only one that I found with some directional clarity that will last longer than 20 pips in one direction

if u don't mind me asking. i have a 1k account. trading 1pips=1usd. i trade twice or thrice a day and looking at 20 pips per trade. do you think alright or what?

ask yourself if you would be honest to yourself...would you make sure on days you lose 3/3 trades (=60 dollars) you would not revenge trade? If you have a will like that, I think a pip at $1 is not suicidal for a 1K account. But most people when they lose $$$ go insane and lose accounts. a 1000 dollars is a big amount I am sure wherever in the world you are. so be careful while just starting ouy tradig.

But the good news is that there are a few borkers that allow variable pip cost that is they allow .10$, 1$ etc for a pip...I would use 10 cents for trades I am nor very sure, and $1 for trades that are a good set up. For example, my risk on the USD-CHF tarde is 1/10th of the monetary risk I took on the GBP-YEN as I felt the GJ set up was much better,,

i am from malaysia. in condition very much similar to chris. got to make ends meet through this. yeah....sometimes i feel like loosing my mind over the lost but feel good over the gain. this is business right. win some loose some. anyway, thanks a lot ya. appriciate it.

sure no probs bud. keep your head about it and it will all work out. IMHO, if you understand the market you are better than most who face the same predicament...atleast you can take the matter in your own hands rather than sit duck. In my expereince, The only things that will kill you would be if you get too greedy or do not cut the loss. That is why I follow simple rule to take profit too soon and cut the fuking loss early too cuz gone are the days when it used to trend and trend.

There has been many times I have been up 15 to 20 pips, only to have it reverse and stop me out at BE or my initial stop.

20 pip moves are good for impatient ppl, cause they come to fruition one way or another!

Its not an exact science, as they say.

Its an art....

not sure what u mean here, pips r pips, 2 or 20 dont matter-what the heck patience got 2 do wid it

If your going for 20 pips, it requires less patience than if your going for say 100 or 200 which will usually take a considerable time longer than the 15 or 20 pips.

So you have match your patience level to your style and type of trading.

I got that 200 pip part, but you gotta survive in these ever changing conditions. My average trade used to be for 50-100 pips but then of late markets spend more and more time on sideways. Now what do I do? Do I change my style/type of trading or stick to it and perish?

That was what I was saying. I take more and more 20-40 pip trades now. I doubled my pip value and halved my weekly pip target. This is how I trade ATM. I will change again when I see markets have changed. I think being flexxible and ready for chanhge is more imp than being married to any one style.
