If you're American, you should be a lot harsher than I am.

It's not about being Democrat or Republican. It's a matter of economics.

You don't bailout private companies. WTF is Obama doing firing Wagoner? It's got nothing to do with whether or not Wagoner did a good job. It's a board of director's job to fire the CEO, not the American president.

WTF are they doing running an insurance company?

WTF are they doing running banks?

WTF are they doing cranking up the printing presses? Printing money is a way to riches? Then why not move to Zimbabwe. Seen the Zimbabwe board of tourism ad? "Zimbabwe, where everyone is a billionaire".

Let private industry go tits up if they are incompetent. There will be an automotive industry without GM and Chrysler. There will be a banking sector without Shitibank. There will be an insurance sector without AIG.

So yeah, I'm harsh.

And if I was an American living in the states, I would be much much harsher.

Your tax dollar is paying AIG, GM, Chrysler and Shitibank's fuckups. Think about that.

I'm an undergraduate economics student attending university, and even here they don't detail the absolutely MORONIC FAILED government attaches' to the supposed FREE MARKET. NEVER have any of my professors hinted at the fact that irresponsible central banking (FED) has completely derailed sound fiscal policy and installed in its place a spiraling national debt and massive inflation.

The real problem that you'll absolutely NEVER hear on the media though deals with what has been labeled "derivatives," which are in a broad sense what we are trading at the moment. Highly leveraged, "exotic" investment vehicles have been stretched out to astronomic values, several QUADRILLION dollars in fact (look up how much just a quadrillion is). These ghost assets are the main culprits in undermining the stability of economies around the globe! Why do you think it's a WORLDWIDE problem?! Is it possible that the economies themselves simply stop working, NO! Food doesn't just stop growing, factories' machines don't get tired and decide to stop producing, it's the means behind funding and capitalizing industry and economy that fail!

We all have the right to question and raise our concerns. But it seems like sometimes the criticisms (or the level of them) are unjustified in my opinion. How long has Obama been in office now? I'm not completely sure, but I know it is less than 120 days. I feel like he has done more in that time then the other guy did in his last 4 years. To start he has sent the message that there he's going to crack the whip (at least once in awhile) on wall street and execs. The American economy is the backbone of the country make no mistake about it. It's not families or moral values or ingenuity or education or even courage. Other countries have these same qualities in their people.

What sets us apart is the strength of our economy which was built on the freedom the constitution grants everyone. So I have no problem with our President trying to help keep some of the large employers afloat by extending a loan to them. I have no problem with him making demands to those companies to accepted the money being lent. The idea was sound in my opinion. Save jobs. By saving jobs, the snowball effect is slowed down, because people can pay their mortgages, auto, and other neccessities. Now if it becomes aparent that the money being lent isn't going to stop them from collapsing then you stop loaning money. No sense in continuing to throw money in a fire.

Lol, I love the whole thing, I bought Shiti bank shares for $1 and sold them for $2.75, I bought GE for $7 and sold them for $10, I bought AIG for $0.55 and sold them for $1.68
I love the current situation because of the very easy money that can be made. I also made gains on Yahoo, Microsoft, Google and ATT.

Please let the DOW go back to 6,500 and I'll do the same but much bigger and I'll even borrow money for it.

Not much time for this thread and posting charts at the moment because I have an Income Tax business on the side, and believe me, I hope in a year or so to make as much money from forex as I now make from Income Tax.

Wake up! Wake up! The money being lent comes at a huge opportunity cost! It's akin to giving a starving man bread, but consequently taking a loaf of bread off of 10 families' tables each day for a month. The cost is that high concerning inflation and international credibility!

The majority of the "porkulus" funds go to the largest tiered BANKS, who then don't lend money to anyone! In order to get a loan now, you essentially have to be rich, and not even really need the money. So in effect, these bills indirectly take money (via inflation) from the general citizenry, and allow rich corporations and private millionaires access to the money! How is that helping the economy?

It's a crappy situation we're in. And I don't think there is one way to get out of it without negatively affecting something (ie inflation or something else). So let's not debate what is going on because I know we'll go in circles forever. Just tell me what you would do if you were Obama and why?
