I think that Iran is playing with fire. I'm not sure what their intentions would be for keeping those hostages. If any missles or attacks were to happen against Iran; the markets would be in chaos. I'm not sure what would happen myself.

Moment now is cash flowing in relation to risk perception. Risk related pairs are favoured, so the money is flowing via them.

Speculation pairs are in "stop hunting to buy the lunch" mode until dust settles - Iran crap, US slow down risk, worldwide stocks not picking up high volumes yet, so forth.

News in general is likely to trigger speculative moves that will vanish at the second M15 candle. Then carry trades get back in.

FX spot is also starting new FY already, so funds are flowing in via carry trade already.

No donuts for speculative pairs (GU!!!!!!!!!!!!) for days.

hope you're all making those pips, I'm getting ready for a week's vacation, so not trading till I get back, afraid to get into any positions that I might not be able to get out right away.

It has to do with 'honor'. Iran is another culture and think in completely other terms of what 'honor' is. In their thoughts they had done a great act to capture soldiers from a bigger force than they are. Honor is due to the iranians by Great Britain and an excuse, even if everyone knows that the soldiers have not violated irans borders. Then they will release the soldiers. Thats all. Easy. But the arrogant western countries doesn't know anything about this type of 'honor' in arabic countries. The same easy solution would be possible with the atom conflict; the western only need to go to Iran and ask what they want without tell them terms and conditions they must fulfill. I know this sounds crazy to us, but it makes completely sense to them. Western countries thinks in terms of money and power. We don't like it to show someone that we are clueless; instead, we try to spread out fear if someone don't accept our ultimate power.

Since this current Iranian fuss has to do with the UK, what happens with it and how it does or does not get resolved has a very direct bearing on the GBP/USD pair. Therefore, as far as I am concerned, anything which sheds light or in any way contributes to an understanding on the Iranian affair is relevant to an understanding of where this pair is likely to go.

potencially GBP-negative environment + potentially USD-negative environment at the same time = S-T-A-L-L

Money is flowing elsewhere... On nasty event in Iran, short USDCHF & GBPCHF are the vents.

I'm looking for spike down, speculation driven, bounce and back to carry trades - JPY overall positive.

Straight shoot to 118.50- in the minimum by speculators + carry trades = JPY overall negative.

Lol yeah with the current rubbishness of the moves in the last day or so I'm quite worried that my long from 621 will go Pete Tong. We are now next to that damn 654/7 resistance level that wound me up so much last night. I don't think I can stand a fifth consecutive BE trade

Oooo just noticed that the triangle on the Hourly has just broken to the upside. Lets hope that the pullback we have just seen is just that and not another bloody reversal.
