Last time I heard from the Prof was when he placed a long around the 1.45XX with no stop, as he didn't deem it necessary. I wondered if he lost money from this trade, but thought that to be unlikely, seeing as he has the Batched Hedge System (a.k.a. keep doubling your bet on the way down and hope for the best).
lol yeah I guess the mixed-batch-hybrid-hedge-quant/deflationary/thingamajig/cantango-scaled-uptown system took the whole day yesterday to recoup the loss from that bet.
I thought it was called grid trading.

Fair enough, I came out worse than you and lost 120 pips on that big overnight move.

It just shows the pure radomness of the market and how the best algorithms can never beat the market 100% of the time. No system is ever 100%.

apart from the asian session,which I missed too,there was only one great move.otherwise pretty choppy.people are scared to take it below 1370.yeah a long wouldve been nice but therell be plenty of moves.

scaled batched hedge with quantitative analysis we enter on a minimum entry of .10k 1st entry, 25 pips higher.20k, 20 pips higher .40k, 20 pips higher .80k, 25 pips higher 1.60k, 25 pips higher 3.20k, 20 pips higher 6.40k, 20 pips higher 12.80k etc. until retracement. Once we enter last entry the system adjust target price 25 pips below and places target price right on 2nd to last entry. This way our last entry on a 25 pip retracement makes the batch approx. a .3% profit for whole position every time as long as their is a retracement at some point.

a.k.a. doubling up your bet on they way down and hoping for the best.

unless you have unlimited money, which none of us do, it'll never work. this is a failed concept which has floored many traders and banks - think Barings.

Ahh sorry you missed that mate, yeah im not worried about the long I can wait.

For me cable gets more and more untradable everyday, prob just psychological but i dont have confidence in longs anymore and i cant short these levels, so over the next few days i'll be looking for other oppurtunities

WRong it has to work in spot forex only because of liquidity and yes we have enough money under management to make it work. But your right is you dont have enough it cannot be done by individuals

just after the US session opened started ranging long , now it looks like its trending I m not sure how strong

This is bullshit, your model doesn't have to work. What happens if it is announced over the newswire that, for example, Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds and RBS have all admitted to being insolvent and not telling the truth about the extent of their losses relating to toxic assets, meaning they will all be nationalised at a gigantic cost to the UK government. What will happen to Cable? My guess is that we'd see a 1,500 pip fall, with no retrace seen for the initial 700 pips. How would your model cope with this eventuality? How does your math guarantee to still beat the market?

The market is random and is not forced to obey rules set out by any model. Your system, as crude as it is, will have a high success rate, but is sp far from being a perfect way to beat the market.

I do not know about Mr. King, but I am pretty sure Dow will not keep its optimism for a long time.
