yeah this is true and could happen you are def right, but its all part of trading and a risk im prepared to take at the moment as I consider that i got in at a an ok price

fair enough mate. you seem to know what you're doing.

i got burnt myself on NFP when i started trading forex, when price initially gapped 70 pips past my stop - meaning my loss was far greater than budget - only to move in the direction of my trade in the next couple of hours. my view is that calculated risk is part of trading, but we should do everything possible to reduce that risk and move the odds in our favour, wherever possible.

just a thought for you , if you did this the opposite way around then your sl would only need to be a few pips at most! Something to think about

IE sold at 5344 bought at 5196

Hi Alcando, I wonder if i can ask for your help with something.
Yesterday I had shorted the cable and moved my stop loss to lock in profit. I had secured about 12 pips. However, the movement went the opposite way and did not honor my locked in profit but instead took a few pips in loss too!

I trade with Oanda and trade this way most of the time, where i move stop loss to lock in profit asap.

Earlier this week the same thing happended and the same scenario expect the first one moved my "locked in" stop loss just above the spike! and took some more!

Oanda are looking into the first case but i do not know what to do about this second one now. They have been "looking into" the first case for a couple of days whilwe i remain short of money!
Now taken some more.

I know for a fact there were no news announcements on either occassion.

Oh! when i reported the first one to them this girl answered and said that it is slippage of 40 pips!! what can i do?
Pleaase advise.....cheers...
