Well, i assume the bailout has turned positive with pelosi. And the fed doing many things that are trying to bring the market to shape yet again. 2009 will be different, hopefully... Heard that traders are fleeing to EUR as it seems like ECB has the upper hand... Waiting for the open!.

ABC are corrections. What you have labeled is impulsive, non-overlapping waves.

Here is the EW count I have. I am not 100% sure of ABC 4th wave. The correction may not have ended yet. Next week should tell whether downtrend will resume or if upward correction has further to go.

In my humble opinion I think were analysing friday too much.

It was a typical "freaky friday". And as usual, NFP was the perfect excuse for brokers to manipulate the market.
If it's too good to be true, it probably is.

I was agreeing with that until you had to add broker manipulation. Friday's with news such as NFP are always volatile. Brokers don't have to play games. Thin trading volume and uncertainty are all that are required.

But even if I agree that they manipulate that is part of trading.

If I was a hunter could I complain that the animals don't play fair by standing still for me to shoot them?

Never complained about it SunTrader. I just know that the big boys going on stop hunts is a fact of life.

That's why sometimes, on big news days, intraday highs and lows are taken out before price reverts to exactly the point that it started.
If it's too good to be true, it probably is.

Yes but liquidity dries up prior to news announcements so if the bid drops by no one willing to step up and buy then whoever wants to sell, especially with a market order, will get lower and lower price fills. Until the panic few get out. Same in reverse if there is a dramatic move higher prior to news.

It isn't always the brokers that are at fault. It is many times the inexperienced who are determined to try to make money right before, during or right after the announcement. Which is almost always financial suicide.

I agree. I learnt 2 years ago that news trading does not work.
If it's too good to be true, it probably is.

brokers do not manipulate markets, they do not have that power

If it moves to the other wall, that could take 6 weeks if it continues to consolidate.

Blue line is center of channel, yellow arrow points to a rising trendline.

Snagit from techsmith. Literally one of the most useful programs i've ever seen or owned. They offer a full featured 30 day trial as well. The "instant on" option is called "One Click" and needs to be activated in the Tools tab, with several options for customization. Camtasia from the same company is right up there as well for creating web video.

I have both v8 and v9. The interface for v9 is somewhat different as it has many more features and I've not gotten a'rd to using it much yet. May need to take the time to watch the tutorials as it's quite a bit different from v8.

Sorry to butt in, but I have a suggestion. Just hit the PrintScrn key on your keyboard. Instantly capture any screen with one key. If you want to capture just the active window, do ALT-PrintScrn.

It's built into XP/Vista and it's free. To save, open mspaint and do ctrl-v. Not as cool as SnagIT but it's free and I like free.

Btw, Jing Project is pretty cool as well and that's free.

thank you for showing me first hand how people incorporate my observations into their own.

i am inclined to believe that consolidation will continue as well for some time to come but given the sharp intraday changes (the geppy beast and us stock market are the best examples) which seem to be related to news mainly...id be prepared at any time for that one violent move to happen. the topic this week will be the car manufacturer bailout plan which if approved may create a short bull rally. 500k jobs lost for november is a perfect example of just how bad a state the us economy is in. the plan not getting approved would imply that 500k number will be "multiplied" (yes i did say multiply by at least a factor of 2) so its almost a given that the government will prevent that from happening with approval of the bailout plan which in turn may lead to a bull rally to that upper wall of the whole downtrend channel. still..scalping is king.
